INTRODUCTION
The VIP-422A- and VIP-422A- - InformaCast IC IC V4
Compliant - Talkback IP Ceiling Speakers Lay In
enable voice access to a single zone paging over of
an IP-based network. The speaker output level is
controlled by the InformaCast server. The lay-in
ceiling speaker grille is made of steel with a white
baked enamel nish. The VIP- 2A- replaces a 42 IC
2’ x 2’ ceiling tile. Power is provided to the unit via
a Power over an Ethernet (PoE) switch meeting the
802.3af specication. The -V4 model is identical in
t, form and function to the non -V4 model.

Mounting
The VIP- -IC is designed to directly replace a 2422A ’
x 2’ ceiling tile.
Network Connection
The VIP-422A-IC has one RJ-45 network connector
on the rear panel. Use a standard patch cable to
connect the VIP-422A- to an Ethernet switch IC
providing Power over Ethernet (PoE) meeting the
802.3af specication. If the switch does not provide
power, a mid-span power injector may be used.

Call Switch Connection
For IP Speakers using Talkback functionality, a call
switch input via screw terminals is provided.
Connect a momentary contact switch to Switch 1
and Ground.
-10 dB Line Level Out Connection
T -10dBm Line Level Out may be connected to he
up to 40 Valcom Self Amplied Speakers in order to
provide additional sound reinforcement in an area .
Mute Out Connection
The Mute Out may optionally be connected to the
mute input of Valcom audio management systems
to suspend locally originated audio during intercom
announcements.
LED 1 and LED 2 Connection
LED 1 (+) and LED 2 (-) is a current limited output
designed to illuminate an optional LED. The LED is
intended to provide visual indication of call
progress. The LED illumination will ash when the
call switch is pressed and will continue to ash until
the call is answered. The LED illumination will be
solid when a connection to the unit is established.
Reset
The Reset button is located behind a pin hole
beside the Network connection and may be used to
return the speaker to factory default settings. Press
and hold the reset button for more than 10 seconds,
but 20less than , to reset the IP address and other
conguration to factory default.
Press and hold the reset button for more than 20
seconds to reset all conguration including the ,
password.

IP SPEAKER CONNECTIONS
Setup
The VIP-422A-IC will automatically acquire an IP
address (using DHCP) and connect to the
InformaCast server when connected to the network
and powered up. Information specic to your
application will need to be programmed into the
InformaCast server. Refer to the InformaCast
documentation for further information.
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
When trouble is reported, verify power is being
supplied to the unit and there are no broken
connections. If a spare unit is available, substitute
a spare unit for the suspected defective unit.
Assistance in troubleshooting is available from the
factory. Call (540) 563-2000 and press 1 for
Technical Support or via email at
support@valcom.com. When requesting
assistance, you should include all available
information. It is strongly suggested that you go to
the web site and review the information at
www.valcom.com.
Valcom equipment is not eld repairable. Valcom,
Inc. maintains service facilities in Roanoke, VA.
Should repairs be necessary, attach a tag to the
unit clearly stating your company name, address,
phone number, contact person and the nature of
