General Description
The MIC5385 is an advanced, triple-output, low-noise LDO
for powering general purpose portable devices. The
MIC5385 provides three independently-enabled, high-
performance, 150mA LDOs in an ultra-small 2mm x 2mm
Thin MLF® package while using only four external
components.
Ideal for battery-powered applications, the MIC5385 offers
low dropout voltage of 180mV at 150mA and low ground
current (typically 32µA per LDO). It can also be put into a
zero-off-mode current state, drawing virtually no current
when disabled.
An input capacitor is required when the power supply is
more than four inches from the device. The evaluation
board includes an input capacitor of 10µF to compensate
for long inductive test leads.

Micrel’s web site at: www.micrel.com.
Requirements
The MIC5385 evaluation board requires an input power
supply that is capable of delivering a minimum 600mA at a
voltage range of 2.5V to 5.5V. The output load can be
either active or passive.
Precautions
The MIC5385 evaluation board does not have reverse
polarity protection. Applying a negative voltage to the VIN
terminal may damage the device.
Getting Started
•Connect an External Supply to VIN. Apply the desired
input voltage to the VIN (J1) and ground (J2) terminal of
the evaluation board, paying careful attention to polarity
and supply voltage (2.5V ≤ VIN≤ 5.5V). An ammeter can
be placed between the input supply and the VIN terminal
of the evaluation board. Ensure that the supply voltage
is monitored at the VIN terminal. The ammeter and/or
power-lead resistance can reduce the voltage supplied
to the input.
•Enable/Disable the MIC5385. To enable the MIC5385
jumper, the enable terminal (J5 for LDO1, J4 for LDO2,
and J3 for LDO3) to VIN
. To disable the output, simply
remove the jumper from the EN terminal. The enable pin
must be either pulled high or low. Leaving the pin
floating will cause the regulator to operate in an
indeterminate state. The evaluation board is supplied
with 100KΩ pull-down resistors for default off state.
•Connect the Load. Connect the load to the VOUT
Terminals (J7 for LDO1, J8 for LDO2 and J6 for LDO3)
and Ground Terminal (J9, J10). The load can be either a
passive (resistor) or active (electronic load). Be sure to
monitor the output voltage at the VOUT (J6, J7 and J8)
terminals.
