INFRARED REMOTE CONTROL

Read all instructions carefully

The remote controls of the memo.RC series are electronic devices designed to permit

transfers of programs from and to clocks of the memo series. Thanks to the equipped

infrared interface, it is in fact possible to copy a program generated on a clock onto the

remote control and then transfer it from the remote control to others clock (or to another

remote control).

The memo.RC1 is different from the memo.RC2 in that it only has the loaded language and

Italian cities.

INSTALLATION

• Insert the batteries in the housing on the back of the

instrument:

remove the cover

insert the batteries, in respect to the polarity shows on

the instrument

secure the cover

At this point, the display segments turn on for a few seconds

and after shows the firmware version.

Then the instrument required the parameters to the correct

operating.

Setting the language (for memo.RC2 only)

• 5 languages are available:

Italian ´ ´ ´ English Spanish

French ´ German.

Select the language with and “+” “–”.

Confirm with “Ok”.

Setting the date format (for memo.RC2 only)

• It is possible to select between the dd-mm-aa and

yy-mm-dd formats.

Select the format with and “+” “–”.

Confirm with “Ok”.

Setting the date

• The parameter (year, month, day)

being changed will flash.

Select the desired value with and “+” “–”.

Press “Ok” to confirm and continue

with the next parameter

The insertion sequence is year ´ ´ month day

When the day is being entered, the display will show

a bar with the corresponding day of the week

(1´ Monday, 7 Sunday).´

DIMENSIONS

Setting the time

• The parameter (hours, minutes) being changed will flash.

Select the desired value with and “+” “–”.

Press “Ok” to confirm and continue

with the next parameter

The insertion sequence is hours ´ minutes

At this point, the display will show the date, time, day of the week

(in letters on the top row, in numbers at the bottom).

OPERATION

• COPY/PASTE mode

This mode allows to:

- transfer a program from a clock to the remote control (copy function)

- transfer the aforementioned program from the remote control to another clock (paste

function)

In this mode, the remote control acts as a transfer bridge for programs between clocks of the

same type.

Note: the copy/paste function can be used also for transferring programs between

remotes. For clarity, the communication will be discussed later between the

remote and watches series memos, speeches are similar still be made in case of

communication between remotes.

In detail, the stages that form this mode are:

COPY

- creation of a program on a clock of the memo series

- activation of the reception on the remote control

- activation of the transmission on the clock

- saving of the transferred program

PASTE

- connection to the network of the clock to be programmed

- resetting of the aforementioned clock and subsequent activation of the reception on the clock

- activation of the transmission on the remote control

- saving of the received program on the clock

Note: during the copy stage, in order to avoid interferences, only one clock must be

in transmission. During the paste stage, instead, it is possible to have more clocks

simultaneously in reception. In this way it is possible to transfer one program on

more clocks at once.

• PRE-PROGRAMMING mode (only for memo AST)

This mode allows:

- to generate a program directly on the remote control

- to transfer the aforementioned program to a clock of the seriesmemo AST

INFRARED INTERFACE

The infrared interface allows to swap programs between remote controls and clocks of the memo

series. Hereafter are described the operations for receiving and transmitting a program.

Note: the data package that is sent during a program transfer

is formed, in addition to the program itself, also from other

parameters, such as:

- holiday programs

- pin code

- time change settings

- date format

- language

- geographical coordinates (only memo AST series)

- hour correctons (only memo AST series)

- program settings (only memo DW-Y series)

Note: during the reception and transmission stages keep the remote control aimed at

the display of the clock to be programmed at a distance of about 40 cm.

RECEPTION (copy function)

To receive a program on the remote control it is necessary to:

activate reception onto the remote control

- hold the key for 3 seconds and then confirm with “Rx”

- hold the key for 3 seconds and then confirm with “Ok”

Repeat points 1 and 2 until all the letters have been inserted. In case of error in inserting

the name, it is possible to delete the characters inserted until that time pressing the

“ ” key. Holding the key for 3 seconds exits without saving. When the last letter “ ”

has been inserted, hold the key for 3 seconds. The display shows the name of the “Ok”

program followed by the writing and the number of the program in memory.

The remote control memory allows to memorize up to 126 programs. If the memory is full,

the attempt to insert a new program shows the writing upon the display.

In case the reception is not succesful, the remote control displays the writing

. The causes may be:

- interruption of the physical signal

- excessive distance between the remote control and the clock

- pressure of a key during reception

- time out (maximum 3 minutes)

TRANSMISSION (paste function)

To transmit a program to one or more clocks it is necessary to:

activate reception on the clock (or clocks)

- press the to reset and activate reception“R”

activate transmission on the remote control.

- hold the key for 3 seconds“Tx”

choose what program to transmit.

- press the and key to choose the program to “+” “–”

be transferred and confirm with . In order to “Ok”

facilitate the copy-paste operations, upon activation

of the transmission, the last program received by

the remote control is suggested as program to be

transferred.

wait for the transfer of the package data.

- on the remote:

and the symbol appear and the remote

- on the clock:

the writing appears.

- At the end the remote control display shows the

writing while the clock display shows the writing

In case the transmission is not succesful, the remote control displays the writing

. The causes may be:

- pressure of a key during transmission

- an error linked to the time of the operations to be carried out

PROGRAMS MENU

The program menu allows to:

• display the programs saved on the remote control

• delete a single program or all together

• transfer a program from the remote control to a clock

• create a new program (only for memo AST clocks)

The program menu is organized as follows:

• Displaying the saved programs

from the main page, press the key“ ”

select PROGRAMS using the and keys and confirm with “+” “–” “Ok”

select the type of instrument between

MEMO DW-Y PROGRAMS

MEMO AST PROGRAMS

and confirm with “Ok”

press the “Ok” key again to enter the display

select using the and keys the type of instrument for which you would like to “+” “–”

display the saved programs and confirm using “Ok”

the display shows the first program:

press “+” “–” and to pass from a program to the next.

If the list is empty, the display shows .

• Transmission of a program

Note: before activating transmission on the remote

control, it is necessary to activate the reception on the

instruments to be programmed, pressing the “R” key.

From the program display page:

press “Ok”

Select and confirm with “Ok”

The display shows and then

and the symbol . During transmission the remote control emits “beeps”.

At the end, the message appears.

• Deleting a program

From the program display page:

press “Ok”.

select DELETE with and “+” “–”

confirm with “Ok”

• Creating a new program (only for AST series instruments)

Creating a new program

From the main page:

press “ ” and select PROGRAMS

confirm with “Ok”

Select PROGRAMS MEMO AST and confirm with “Ok”

select with “+” “–” “Ok” and MEMO AST NEW and press to confirm

select for which memo AST you wish to create a program

insert the parameters for the calculation of the hours of sunrise and sunset.

It is possible to select between:

CITY: country, city

COORDINATES: latitude, longitude, time zone

Note: in case your city is not present, it is necessary to select the option COORDINATES

and manually input the parameters.

Insert any corrections on the hours of sunrise and sunset calculated by the remote

control (positive values to delay, negative to anticipate the hour)

Give a name to the created program.

The first letter of the name flashes:

1. use the and keys to choose the desired letter“+” “–”

2. confirm with and move on to the next letter. “Ok”

Repeat points 1 and 2 until all the letters have been inserted. In case of error in

inserting the name, it is possible to delete characters inserted up to that moment

pressing the “ ” key. Holding the for 3 seconds exits without saving. When the “ ”

last letter has been inserted, hold the “Ok” key for 3 seconds.

The display shows the name of the program followed by the writing and the

number of the program in memory.

DELETE MENU

This menu allows the simultaneous deletion of all the programs memorized on the remote

control, both for memo DW-Y instruments and for memo AST instruments.

To delete all programs:

press “ ” from the main page

select PROGRAMS and confirm with “Ok”

select PROGRAMS ERASE with and and “+” “–”

press “Ok”

confirm with Ok or press to exit without “ ”

SETTING MENU

This menu is used to display and change the instrument’s general configuration parameters. These

are:

language, date, time, automatic CET / DST, position, correction, reset.

From the normal operating status:

press “ ”

select SETTINGS with and “+” “–”

confirm with “Ok” .

LANGUAGE menu (only for memo.RC2)

The options are:

Italian, English, Spanish, French, German.

select SETTINGS LANGUAGE with and “+” “–”.

confirm with “Ok”. The currently set language will be

displayed.

Press “Ok” “ twice to access the change mode or ” to exit

without changing

select the language with and “+” “–”

confirm with “Ok”

The following message will appear on the display .

DATE menu

Select SETTINGS DATE with and “+” “–”

confirm with “Ok”. The current date is displayed.

Press “Ok” “ twice to access the change mode or ” to exit

without changing

select the format with and “+” “–”

(dd-mm-yy or yy-mm-dd) (choise available for memo.RC2 only)

confirm with “Ok”

enter the year, month, day with and and press “+” “–”

“Ok” to confirm

The following message will appear on the display .

TIME menu

Select SETTINGS TIME with and “+” “–”

confirm with “Ok”. The current time is displayed

Press “Ok” “ twice to access the change mode or ”

to exit without changing

CET / DST CHANGE menu

The instrument makes it possible to automatically manage the CET/DST change and vice versa.

To activate/deactivate the function:

select SETTINGS DAYL SAVE with and “+” “–”

confirm with “Ok”. The current status will appear on the display

( or )

press “Ok” twice to access the change mode

select SET AUTO ON or SET AUTO OFF with and “+” “–”

press “Ok” to confirm

If the function is active, press to view/change “+”

the DST ´ CET change.

Press “Ok” “+” twice to change the parameters or again

to display the parameters relative to the DST ´ CET

change

The following parameters must be entered (for both changes):

- week of the change (1ST first, 2ND second,

3RD third, 4TH fourth, LAST last of the month)

- month of the change

- day of the week (Monday, Tuesday,…)

- time of the change

When all parameters are set,

press “ ” to exit.

The default values for the time change are:

- winter ´ summer change: last Sunday in March, 2:00 am

- summer ´ winter change: last Sunday in October 3:00 am

SETTING RESET menu

This menu is used to reset all settings that were made, restoring the factory values:

Language Italian

Date format dd-mm-yy

CET/DST change

- summer time change

- winter time change

automatic

Last Sunday in March 2:00 am

Last Sunday in October 3:00 am

To reset the settings:

select SETTINGS RESET with and “+” “–”

confirm with “Ok”

confirm again with “Ok”

- the message appears on the display.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT

The battery charge level can be checked:

- automatically by the instrument once a week

- manually, hold down the “ ” key on the main page for 3 seconds

The first line of the display shows the battery charge status:

- : charge sufficient for correct operation

- : insufficient charge.

In this case the message is displayed until the batteries are replaced.

In order to avoid losing the settings, the battery replacement operation should not last more than

60 seconds.

Use AAA alkaline batteries only.

Throw away the run down batteries in compliance with current

regulations on the disposal of harmful waste.
