1Introduction
Congratulations on the purchase of the Topcom Digital Thermometer 100. We hope you
will enjoy using the thermometer and the benefits it offers.
2 Safety notes
• This thermometer is intended for household use only. The use of this thermometer is
not intended as a substitute for physician’s consultation.
• This product is not a toy.
• The thermometer should only be used under the supervision of an adult.
• Do not walk, run or talk during temperature taking.
• Clean the thermometer before and after each use.
• Store the unit in the protective case and keep away from children when not in use.
• Do not bite the probe and battery cover.
• Do not store the unit where it will be exposed to direct sunlight, dust or humidity.
Avoid extreme temperatures.
• Dropping or subjecting your thermometer to strong shocks should be avoided.
• Do not attempt to dissemble the unit, except to replace the battery.
• The body of the thermometer should be free of crack before use.
• Do not use if battery cover is detached.
• If measurement is not attainable, the unit must be replaced.
3 What you need to know about your body temperature
Although the generally accepted "normal" temperature reading is 37.0°C, temperature
reading can vary from 36°C to 37.3°C and still may be considered as "normal".
Your body temperature can be influenced by your activities such as exercise, smoking,
eating and drinking.
Even time of day may influence your body temperature. For example, your temperature is
lower in the morning than in the afternoon.
Other variations may be due to the location of the temperature reading.
While the oral temperature follows the guidelines previously described, a rectal
temperature is generally 0.5°C higher. Conversely, an auxiliary (under the arm)
temperature will be 0.5°C lower.

5 Battery installation
When the battery low icon is displayed, the battery needs to be replaced.
• Remove the small screw on the backside of the
thermometer.
• Pull the battery cover (5) away from the thermometer.
• Use a non-metallic pointed object to remove the old
battery.
• Place a new 1,5V DC battery (L736, SR41, LR41, 392 or
192) with the negative pole (-) side up and the positive
pole (+) facing down in battery compartment.
• Put the battery cover back on the thermometer and re-
install the screw.
6 Measurement
6.1 Important before use
• When the temperature is higher than 38°, means that the patient may have fever.
Contact your doctor.
• It is important to clean your Thermometer before the first time of use and after each
application. Clean your Digital Thermometer by wiping it with soap and water or 70%
isopropyl Alcohol otherwise the result of measurement will be inaccurate.
• The thermometer is calibrated and does not need re-calibration if used according to
the instructions.
• After a shower or exercise, the body temperature will rise. Please take a rest before
taking temperature.
6.2 Taking an Oral Temperature
Drinking hot or cold fluids, exercising, smoking or
performing other activities may raise or lower your
temperature. Therefore, it is important to relax for
approximately 5 minutes with your mouth closed prior to
taking a reading.
• Place the probe tip under the tongue as near as
possible to the heat pocket. The diagram also shows
the temperature variables by not placing the tip in the
heat pocket area.
• Close the mouth
• Press the ON/OFF button (4) briefly. After all segments have been displayed, the
previous result or ‘Lo’ is displayed for 2 seconds.
• The thermometer starts measurement.
• When the temperature stabilizes at peak temperature, 10 beeps are audible and the
result is displayed.
• If the temperature is above 37.8 C, the unit will sound ten sets of two short beeps.
• Press the ON/OFF button (4) to turn the unit off or the unit will automatically shut off
after approximately ten minutes.
6.3 Axillary use
• Wipe the underarm with a dry towel.
• Place the probe tip under the arm so the tip is touching the skin with the
thermometer perpendicular to the body.
• Position the arm across the chest so the probe tip is well covered by the arm. This
also insures the probe is not affected by the room's air.
• Press the ON/OFF button (4) briefly. After all segments have been displayed, the
previous result or ‘Lo’ is displayed for 2 seconds.
• The thermometer starts measurement.
• When the temperature stabilizes at peak temperature, 10 beeps are audible and the
result is displayed.
• If the temperature is above 37.8 C, the unit will sound ten sets of two short beeps.
• Press the ON/OFF button (4) to turn the unit off or the unit will automatically shut off
after approximately ten minutes.
6.4 Rectal use
• After applying the disposable probe cover, apply a water-soluble lubricant to the tip.
Do not use petroleum jelly like Vaseline for easier insertion.
• Gently insert the probe a MAXIMUM of 1 cm into the rectum.
• Press the ON/OFF button (4) briefly. After all segments have been displayed, the
previous result or ‘Lo’ is displayed for 2 seconds.
• The thermometer starts measurement.
• When the temperature stabilizes at peak temperature, 10 beeps are audible and the
result is displayed.
• If the temperature is above 37.8 C, the unit will sound ten sets of two short beeps.
• Press the ON/OFF button (4) to turn the unit off or the unit will automatically shut off
after approximately ten minutes.
7 Disposal of the device (environment)
At the end of the product lifecycle, you should not throw this product into the
normal household garbage but bring the product to a collection point for the
recycling of electrical and electronic equipments. The symbol on the product,
user guide and/or box indicate this.
Some of the product materials can be re-used if you bring them to a recycling
point. By re-using some parts or raw materials from used products you make an important
contribution to the protection of the environment. Please contact your local authorities in
case you need more information on the collection points in your area.
Batteries must be removed before disposing of the device.
Dispose of the batteries in an environmental manner according to your
country regulations.

or oral used thermometer because of hygienic reason.
Rectal temperatures are an appropriate and reliable method for infants
and small children. Otherwise, this method should only be used when it
is impossible or impractical to take an oral or auxiliary temperature.

1 Inleiding
Gefeliciteerd met de aankoop van de Topcom Digital Thermometer 100. Wij hopen dat
deze thermometer en de vele voordelen ervan u goede diensten zullen bewijzen.
2 Veiligheidsvoorschriften
• Deze thermometer is uitsluitend bedoeld voor huishoudelijk gebruik. Het gebruik van
deze thermometer kan een consult bij uw arts niet vervangen.
• Dit product is geen speelgoed.
• De thermometer mag uitsluitend onder toezicht van een volwassene worden
gebruikt.
• Niet rondlopen, rennen of praten tijdens het opnemen van de temperatuur.
• Reinig de thermometer voor het eerste gebruik en na elk gebruik.
• Bewaar het apparaat in de beschermhoes en buiten bereik van kinderen als het niet
wordt gebruikt.
• Niet in de sonde of het batterijdeksel bijten.
• Bewaar het apparaat op een plek waar het niet wordt blootgesteld aan direct
zonlicht, stof of vocht. Vermijd extreme temperaturen.
• Voorkom dat de thermometer valt of wordt blootgesteld aan een krachtige schok.
• Probeer het apparaat niet te demonteren, behalve om de batterij te vervangen.
• Controleer voor gebruik of er geen barsten in de thermometer zitten.
• Niet gebruiken als het batterijdeksel is verwijderd.

3 Wat u moet weten over uw lichaamstemperatuur
Hoewel de algemeen als 'normaal' beschouwde temperatuurwaarde 37,0 °C bedraagt,
kan de temperatuur uiteenlopen van 36 °C tot 37,3 °C en toch ook als 'normaal' worden
gezien.
Uw lichaamstemperatuur kan worden beïnvloed door activiteiten zoals lichamelijke
inspanning, roken, eten en drinken.
Zelfs de tijd van de dag kan invloed hebben op uw lichaamstemperatuur. Zo hebt u 's
morgens een lagere temperatuur dan 's middags.
Andere afwijkingen kunnen het gevolg zijn van het lichaamsdeel waar de temperatuur
wordt afgenomen.
De hierboven beschreven vuistregels hebben betrekking op de temperatuur in de mond;
de rectale temperatuur ligt gewoonlijk 0,5 °C hoger. De axillaire temperatuur daarentegen
(onder de oksel) ligt 0,5 °C lager.

5 Batterij plaatsen
Wanneer het pictogram 'batterij bijna leeg' wordt weergegeven, moet de batterij
worden vervangen.
• Verwijder het schroefje achter op de thermometer.
• Trek het batterijdeksel (5) van de thermometer af.
• Verwijder de oude batterij met een niet-metalen, puntig
voorwerp.
• Plaats een nieuwe batterij van 1,5 V DC (L736, SR41,
LR41, 392 of 192) met de minpool (-) omhoog en de
pluspool (+) omlaag in het batterijvak.
• Plaats het batterijdeksel terug op de thermometer en
breng de schroef weer aan.
6Meting
6.1 Belangrijk voor gebruik
• Een temperatuur hoger dan 38 °C betekent dat de patiënt mogelijk koorts heeft.
Raadpleeg uw arts.
• De thermometer moet worden gereinigd voordat hij voor het eerst wordt gebruik en
opnieuw na elk gebruik. Reinig uw digitale thermometer door hem af te vegen met
zeep en water of met 70% isopropanol, anders is het verkregen meetresultaat
onbetrouwbaar.
• De thermometer is geijkt en hoeft niet opnieuw te worden geijkt als hij wordt gebruikt
volgens de instructies.
• Na een douche of lichamelijke inspanning stijgt de lichaamstemperatuur. Wacht dus
even voordat u de temperatuur opneemt.
6.2 De temperatuur in de mond afnemen
Door het drinken van warme of koude vloeistoffen,
lichamelijke inspanning, roken en andere activiteiten kan
uw temperatuur stijgen of dalen. U moet zich daarom
voordat u uw temperatuur afneemt circa 5 minuten lang
ontspannen, met gesloten mond.
• Plaats de punt van de sonde onder de tong, zo ver
mogelijk richting de warme holte. In het diagram ziet
u hoe zeer de temperatuurmeting kan afwijken als u
de punt niet in de warmte holte plaatst.
• Sluit de mond
• Druk kort op de AAN/UIT-knop (4). Nadat alle segmenten zijn weergegeven wordt 2
seconden lang het laatste resultaat of 'Lo' weergegeven.
• De thermometer begint met meten.
• Wanneer de temperatuur zich stabiliseert op een piektemperatuur hoort u 10
pieptonen en wordt het resultaat weergegeven.
• Als de temperatuur hoger is dan 37,8 °C, hoort u tien keer twee korte pieptonen.
• Druk op de AAN/UIT-knop (4) om het apparaat uit te zetten. Anders wordt het
apparaat na circa tien minuten automatisch uitgeschakeld.
6.3 Gebruik onder de oksel
• Veeg de oksel af met een droge handddoek.
• Plaats de punt van de sonde onder de oksel zodat de punt de huid raakt, met de
thermometer loodrecht op het lichaam.
• Plaats de arm over de borst zodat de punt van de sonde goed door de arm wordt
bedekt. Zo zorgt u tevens dat de lucht in de kamer niet bij de sonde komt.
• Druk kort op de AAN/UIT-knop (4). Nadat alle segmenten zijn weergegeven wordt 2
seconden lang het laatste resultaat of 'Lo' weergegeven.
• De thermometer begint met meten.
• Wanneer de temperatuur zich stabiliseert op een piektemperatuur hoort u 10
pieptonen en wordt het resultaat weergegeven.
• Als de temperatuur hoger is dan 37,8 °C, hoort u tien keer twee korte pieptonen.

6.4 Rectaal gebruik
• Na aanbrengen van de wegwerpsondehoes brengt u een in water oplosbaar
glijmiddel aan op de punt. Gebruik geen oliehoudend glijmiddel zoals vaseline
om de thermometer gemakkelijker in te kunnen brengen.
• Breng de sonde voorzichtig MAXIMAAL 1 cm diep in het rectum in.
• Druk kort op de AAN/UIT-knop (4). Nadat alle segmenten zijn weergegeven wordt 2
seconden lang het laatste resultaat of 'Lo' weergegeven.
• De thermometer begint met meten.
• Wanneer de temperatuur zich stabiliseert op een piektemperatuur hoort u 10
pieptonen en wordt het resultaat weergegeven.
• Als de temperatuur hoger is dan 37,8 °C, hoort u tien keer twee korte pieptonen.

7 Het toestel afvoeren (milieu)
Na afloop van de levenscyclus van het product mag u het niet met het normale
huishoudelijke afval weggooien, maar moet u het naar een inzamelpunt brengen
voor recycling van elektrische en elektronische apparatuur. Dit wordt aangeduid
door het symbool op het product, in de handleiding en/of op de verpakking.
Sommige materialen waaruit het product is vervaardigd, kunnen worden
hergebruikt als u ze naar een inzamelpunt brengt. Door onderdelen of grondstoffen van
gebruikte producten te hergebruiken, levert u een belangrijke bijdrage aan de
bescherming van het milieu. Wend u tot de plaatselijke overheid voor meer informatie over
de inzamelpunten bij u in de buurt.
Verwijder de batterijen voordat u het toestel naar een inzamelpunt brengt.
Voer de batterijen op een milieuvriendelijke manier af volgens de regels die
gelden in uw land.

De mond moet tijdens het meten gesloten blijven voor een nauwkeurige
meting. Openen van de mond kan leiden tot een langere meettijd en kan
gevolgen hebben voor de verkregen waarde.
Wij raden aan om een thermometer die rectaal gebruikt is om
hygiënische redenen niet ook onder de oksel of in de mond te gebruiken .
Rectale temperatuurmeting is een geschikte en betrouwbare methode
voor zuigelingen en kleine kinderen. Gebruik deze methode verder
alleen als het onmogelijk of niet praktisch is om de temperatuur in de
mond of onder de oksel af te nemen.

1Introduction
Félicitations pour l'achat du thermomètre numérique 100 de Topcom. Nous espérons que
vous apprécierez ce thermomètre et ses avantages.
2 Conseils de sécurité
• Ce thermomètre est exclusivement prévu pour une utilisation domestique.
L'utilisation de ce thermomètre ne remplace pas une consultation chez le médecin.
• Ce produit n'est pas un jouet.
• Ce thermomètre doit être exclusivement utilisé par des adultes.
• Il est vivement recommandé de ne pas marcher, courir et parler durant la prise de la
température.
• Nettoyer le thermomètre avant et après chaque utilisation.
• Ranger le thermomètre dans l'étui de protection et le conserver hors de portée des
enfants lorsqu'il n'est pas utilisé.
• Ne pas mordre ni la sonde, ni le couvercle du compartiment à piles.
• Ne pas exposer le thermomètre en contact direct avec les rayons du soleil et le
placer dans un endroit sec à l'abri de la poussière. Le thermomètre ne doit pas être
soumis à des températures extrêmes.
• Le thermomètre ne doit pas subir de chocs violents.
• Ne pas essayer de démonter le thermomètre, excepté pour remplacer la pile.
• Avant toute utilisation, le corps du thermomètre ne doit pas être fissuré.
• Le thermomètre ne doit pas être utilisé si le couvercle du compartiment à piles est
détaché.
• Si la mesure de la température n'est pas réalisable, le thermomètre doit être
remplacé.
3 À propos de la température corporelle
Bien que la température « normale » généralement acceptée soit de 37,0 °C, elle peut
varier entre 36 °C et 37,3 °C sans pour autant être considérée comme « anormale ».
Pratiquer un exercice physique, fumer, manger et boire sont autant d'activités qui peuvent
influer sur votre température corporelle.
Celle-ci peut également varier au cours de la journée. Par exemple, la température est
moins élevée le matin que l'après-midi.
D'autres variations peuvent être imputées selon l'emplacement où est prise la
température.
Tandis que la température buccale varie selon les conditions décrites plus haut, une
température rectale est généralement supérieure de 0,5 °C. Réciproquement, une
température axillaire (prise sous le bras) peut être inférieure de 0,5 °C.

5 Mise en place de la pile
Lorsque l'indicateur de décharge de la pile s'affiche, la pile doit être remplacée.
• Dévisser la petite vis située sur la face arrière du
thermomètre.
• Retirer le couvercle du compartiment à piles (5) du
thermomètre.
• Utiliser un objet pointu non métallique pour retirer
l'ancienne pile.
• Insérer une nouvelle pile 1,5V DC (L736, SR41, LR41,
392 ou 192) de façon à ce que le pôle négatif (-) soit
orienté vers le haut et le pôle positif (+) soit orienté vers
le bas dans le compartiment à piles.
• Replacer le couvercle du compartiment à piles sur le thermomètre et reserrer la vis.
6Mesure
6.1 Précautions avant emploi
• Lorsque la température dépasse 38°C, le patient peut avoir de la fièvre. Consulter
son médecin.
• Veiller à nettoyer correctement votre thermomètre avant la première utilisation et
après chaque usage. Nettoyer son thermomètre numérique en le frottant à l'aide de
savon, d'eau ou d'alcool isopropylique à 70 % afin d'obtenir des mesures qui soient
toujours précises.
• Le thermomètre est calibré et ne requiert pas un recalibrage s'il est utilisé
conformément aux instructions.
• Après une douche ou un exercice physique, la température du corps augmente. Se
reposer avant de prendre sa température.
6.2 Utilisation buccale
Boire des liquides chauds ou froids, faire de l'exercice,
fumer ou pratiquer d'autres activités peut faire augmenter
ou diminuer sa température. C'est pourquoi, il est
recommandé de se détendre et de garder la bouche
fermée pendant environ 5 minutes avant de réaliser la
mesure.
• Placer le bout de la sonde sous la langue le plus près
possible de la poche de chaleur. Le schéma indique
les différences de température induites lorsque le
bout de la sonde n'est pas placé dans la poche de
chaleur.
• Fermer la bouche.
• Appuyer brièvement sur le bouton marche/arrêt (4). Après que tous les segments
aient été affichés, le résultat précendent ou « Lo » s'affiche pendant 2 secondes.
• Le thermomètre commence à réaliser la mesure.
• Lorsque la température maximale est stabilisée, le thermomètre émet 10 bips et le
résultat s'affiche.
• Si la température est supérieure à 37,8 °C, l'appareil émet dix séries de deux bips
courts.
• Appuyer sur le bouton marche/arrêt (4) pour éteindre l'appareil. Le thermomètre
s'éteint automatiquement après 10 minutes.
6.3 Utilisation axillaire
• Essuyer son aisselle à l'aide d'une serviette sèche.
• Placer la sonde sous le bras de sorte que le bout soit en contact avec la peau et que
le thermomètre soit perpendiculaire au corps.
• Positionner son bras en diagonale sur le torse de manière à ce que le bout soit
entièrement couvert par le bras. Cela permet également de garantir une mesure qui
ne soit pas altérée par la température de la pièce.
• Appuyer brièvement sur le bouton marche/arrêt (4). Après que tous les segments
aient été affichés, le résultat précendent ou « Lo » s'affiche pendant 2 secondes.
• Le thermomètre commence à réaliser la mesure.
• Lorsque la température maximale est stabilisée, le thermomètre émet 10 bips et le
résultat s'affiche.
• Si la température est supérieure à 37,8 °C, l'appareil émet dix séries de deux bips
courts.
• Appuyer sur le bouton marche/arrêt (4) pour éteindre l'appareil. Le thermomètre

6.4 Utilisation rectale
• Après avoir placé le couvre-sonde jetable, appliquer un lubrifiant hydrosoluble sur le
bout de la sonde. Ne pas utiliser de gelée de pétrole telle que de la vaseline
pour faciliter l'insertion.
• Insérer doucement la sonde dans le rectum, à une profondeur maximale de 1 cm.
• Appuyer brièvement sur le bouton marche/arrêt (4). Après que tous les segments
aient été affichés, le résultat précendent ou « Lo » s'affiche pendant 2 secondes.
• Le thermomètre commence à réaliser la mesure.
• Lorsque la température maximale est stabilisée, le thermomètre émet 10 bips et le
résultat s'affiche.
• Si la température est supérieure à 37,8 °C, l'appareil émet dix séries de deux bips
courts.
• Appuyer sur le bouton marche/arrêt (4) pour éteindre l'appareil. Le thermomètre
s'éteint automatiquement après 10 minutes.
7 Mise au rebut de l'appareil (environnement)
Au terme du cycle de vie de ce produit, ne pas le jeter avec les déchets
ménagers ordinaires mais le déposer dans un point de collecte pour le recyclage
des équipements électriques et électroniques. Le symbole indiqué sur ce

La bouche doit rester fermée durant la prise de la température afin
d'obtenir le résultat le plus précis possible. Ouvrir la bouche peut
augmenter le temps de la mesure et peut altérer le résultat.
Pour des raisons d'hygiène, nous conseillons d'utiliser des thermomètres
différents pour les mesures rectales et les mesures axillaires ou
buccales.
Les températures rectales constituent une méthode appropriée et fiable
pour la prise de température chez les bébés et chez les jeunes enfants.
Dans les autres cas, cette méthode doit être utilisée uniquement lorsqu'il
est impossible ou peu pratique de prendre la température buccale ou
axillaire.
