delta-sigmafractional-NPLLwithanauxiliaryinteger-

NPLL.ThedeviceisfabricatedusingTI’sadvanced

process.

Withdelta-sigmaarchitecture,fractionalspursat

loweroffsetfrequenciesarepushedtohigher

frequenciesoutsidetheloopbandwidth.Theabilityto

pushcloseinspurandphasenoiseenergytohigher

frequenciesisadirectfunctionofthemodulator

order.Unlikeanalogcompensation,thedigital

feedbacktechniqueusedintheLMX2485Q-Q1is

highlyresistanttochangesintemperatureand

variationsinwaferprocessing.TheLMX2485Q-Q1

delta-sigmamodulatorisprogrammableuptofourth

order,whichallowsthedesignertoselectthe

optimummodulatorordertofitthephasenoise,spur,

andlocktimerequirementsofthesystem.
