Thebq24313andbq24315arehighlyintegratedcircuitsdesignedtoprovideprotectiontoLi-ionbatteriesfrom

failuresofthechargingcircuit.TheICcontinuouslymonitorstheinputvoltage,theinputcurrent,andthebattery

voltage.Theoutputactsasalinearregulator.TheoutputisregulatedtoV

O(REG)

forinputsbetweenV

O(REG)

and

theovervoltagethreshold.Ifaninputovervoltageconditionoccurs,theICimmediatelyremovespowerfromthe

chargingcircuitbyturningoffaninternalswitch.Inthecaseofanovercurrentcondition,itlimitsthesystem

currentatthethresholdvalue,andiftheovercurrentpersists,switchesthepasselementOFFafterablanking

period.Additionally,theICalsomonitorsitsowndietemperatureandswitchesoffifitexceeds140°C.Theinput

overcurrentthresholdisuser-programmable.

TheICcanbecontrolledbyaprocessorandalsoprovidesstatusinformationaboutfaultconditionstothehost.
