TheADS1283isanextremelyhigh-performance,

single-chip,analog-to-digitalconverter(ADC)withan

integrated,low-noiseprogrammablegainamplifier

(PGA)andtwo-channelinputmultiplexer(mux).The

ADS1283issuitableforthedemandingneedsof

seismicmonitoringequipment.

Theconverterusesafourth-order,inherentlystable,

delta-sigma(ΔΣ)modulatorthatprovidesoutstanding

noiseandlinearityperformance.Themodulatordigital

outputisdigitallyfilteredanddecimatedbytheon-

chipdigitalfiltertoyieldtheADCconversionresult.

Theflexibleinputmuxprovidesanadditionalexternal

inputformeasurement,aswellasinternalself-test

inputconnections.ThePGAfeaturesoutstandinglow

noise(5nV/√Hz)andvery-highinputimpedance,

allowingeasyinterfacingtogeophonesand

hydrophonesoverawiderangeofgains.

Thedigitalfilterprovidesselectabledataratesfrom

250to4000samplespersecond(SPS).Thehigh-

passfilter(HPF)featuresanadjustablecorner

frequency.On-chipgainandoffsetscalingregisters

supportsystemcalibration.

Thesynchronizationinput(SYNC)canbeusedto

synchronizetheconversionsofmultipleADS1283

devices.

TheADS1283isavailableinacompact24-lead,5-

mm×4-mmVQFNpackage,andisfullyspecified

from–40°Cto+85°C,withamaximumoperating

temperaturerangeof–50°Cto+125°C.
