What a feast for these four mice! They play on a huge piece of cheese and enjoy
each bite. They climb up the ladders and slide back down through the holes in the
cheese. Where does each mouse land and how much cheese can they get?
But be careful: Max the cat is sneaking around to surprise the mice and take their cheese. He may even
trap a mouse until another one catches his attention.
Which mouse will win this cheesy chase?

Setup:
• Place the cheese in the center of the table.
• Insert the ladders into the openings on top of the cheese and
click them into place.
• Place Max the cat on one of the three ladder spaces on the board.
• Lay the pieces of cheese and two dice next to the board.
• Each player chooses a mouse and places it in one of the four
spots on top of the cheese.
In the two- or three-player game,
the extra mice should be put back in the box.
Your Goal:
Be the first player to collect five pieces of cheese.
How to Play:
To start, each player drops a mouse through the hole on top of the cheese. Your mouse starts on the
space that it lands on. Players do not collect cheese at this point.
Play and move in a clockwise direction. The youngest player begins.
1. Roll the dice:
On your turn, roll the dice.
The standard diedetermines how far your
mouse moves, and the paws dieshows how
far Max the cat moves. If it is a blank side,
Max does not move.
2. Move the mouse:
Move your mouse first and
immediatelyperform one of
the actions described on the
next page.

Ladder:
Your mouse climbs up the
ladder onto the cheese.
Let your mouse slide
down through the hole,
and then immediately perform the action on
the space where your mouse lands.
Mouse with two pieces
of cheese:
Take two pieces of cheese
from the store.
Mouse hole:
Phew, that was lucky! If your
mouse runs into Max the cat
here, you’re safe. You don’t
have to give up any cheese,
and your mouse can’t be trapped.
Perform the action:
Mouse with a piece of cheese:
Take one piece of cheese
from the store.
Your mouse moves or slides onto a space where Max the cat is waiting:
Luckily, Max the cat hasn’t spotted your mouse yet. Your mouse still gets a shock, though, and drops
a piece of cheese. If you have one, return it to the store.
Important! Surrendering a piece of cheese replaces the action shown on the space unless you land on
a mouse hole.
3. Move Max the cat:
If Max moves onto a space where there is already a mouse,
place Max on top of the mouse so that it
disappears. As long as he remains on top of the mouse, it is trapped – unless it is in the safe mouse hole.
In that case, place Max beside the mouse.
If it is this mouse’s turn next, it can’t play its turn. However, as soon as another player rolls one, two,
or three paws, the cat will move the corresponding number of spaces and the mouse will be free again.
If there is more than one mouse on the space, decide which mouse should be trapped under the cat.
4. End your turn:
Play now passes to the left.
Your mouse moves onto one of the following spaces:
End of Game:
The first player to collect five pieces of cheese WINS!
