WARNINGS:

• It is important that users of this tester read, understand, and follow all warnings, cautions, safety

information, and instructions in this manual before operating or servicing this tester. Failure to

follow instructions could result in death or serious injury.

• Risk of electric shock and burn. Contact with live circuits could result in death or serious injury.

• Use caution with voltages above 30V AC as a shock hazard may exist.

• A single blinking LED or a steady glowing LED and an audible beep indicate voltage present. If no

indication, voltage could still be present.

• Before and after each use, verify operation by testing a known working circuit that is within the

rating of this unit.

• Never assume neutral or ground wires are de-energized. Neutrals in multi-wire branch circuits

may be energized when disconnected and must be retested before handling.

• The tester WILL NOT detect voltage if:

• The wire is shielded.

• The operator is not grounded or is otherwise isolated from an effective earth ground.

• The voltage is DC.

• The tester MAY NOT detect voltage if:

• The user is not holding the tester.

• The user is insulated from the tester with a glove or other materials.

• The wire is partially buried or in a grounded metal conduit.

• The tester is at a distance from the voltage source.

• The field created by the voltage source is being blocked, dampened, or otherwise interfered with.

• The frequency of the voltage is not a perfect sine wave between 50 and 500Hz.

• The tester is outside of operation conditions (listed in Specifications section).

• Operation may be affected by differences in socket design and insulation thickness and type.

• In bright light conditions, the LED visual indicators will be less visible.

• Do not use if "power on" LED is not illuminated.

• Do not use if tester appears damaged or is not operating properly. If in doubt, replace the tester.

• Do not apply more than the rated voltage as marked on the tester (1000V).

• Detection above 12V is specified under "normal" conditions as specified below. The tester may

detect at a different threshold at different conditions, or may not detect at all unless:

• The tip of the tester is within 0.25" of an AC voltage source radiating unimpeded.

• The user is holding the body of the tester with his or her bare hand.

• The user is standing on or connected to earth ground.

• The air humidity is nominal (50% relative humidity – non-condensing).

• The tester is held still.

• Always wear approved eye protection.

• Comply with local and national safety requirements.

• If this product is used in a manner not specified by the manufacturer, protection provided

by the product may be affected.

• Do not attempt to repair this tester. It contains no serviceable parts.

• Do not expose the product to extremes in temperature or high humidity.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS:

Modes of Operation:

•

The

NCVT-3 can operate as a 12 - 1000V AC non-contact voltage tester and/or a flashlight.

•

The proximity sensor indicates voltage strength with an LED scale (Fig. 2).

Turn NVCT Functionality On:

•

Press and release the “NCV” power button.

•

Listen for single-beep sound and watch for the blue PWR LED to illuminate and remain lit

indicating the unit is powered on.

•

Simultaneously, the Bar Graph LEDs (2 yellow and 3 red) will illuminate for approximately

1 second.

•

After 1 second, the LED Bar Graph will turn off, then display the battery level:

All 5 LEDs lit indicate a full battery

1 LED lit indicates batteries are at approximately 20% of capacity

Turn NVCT Functionality Off:

•

Press and release the “NCV” power button.

•

Listen for double-beep sound and watch blue LED turn off.

Checking for the Presence of AC Voltage:

•

Prior to use, test on known live circuit to verify tester functionality.

•

Place tip of tester near AC voltage. If voltage is sensed, the unit will emit audible beeps

and the proximity sensor will indicate strength of voltage detected (Fig. 2).

NCVT Auto Power Off:

•

After 4 minutes of non-use, the NCVT tester automatically powers off to conserve battery life.

•

Measuring a voltage will reset the 4 minute timer.

•

Upon power off, the unit will emit a double-beep sound and the blue LED will turn off.

NOTE:

This feature is disabled when flashlight is on. When flashlight is turned off, the NCVT

four minute timer will begin.

Turn Flashlight On/Off:

•

Press and release “Flashlight” button to turn flashlight on or off.

Flashlight Auto Power Off:

•

After 20 minutes on, the flashlight will automatically power off. This will save batteries if the

flashlight is accidently turned on or left powered on.

•

Before automatically powering off, the unit will “chirp” for 10 seconds.

•

Pressing the flashlight

button while chirping will reset the 20 minute timer, and keep

the flashlight on.

•

If no button is pressed, the flashlight will turn off.

Low Battery Indication:

•

When the battery drops to approximately 20% of capacity, the NCVT-3 will disable the

flashlight functionality. This will conserve the battery, and allow the unit to function as a

voltage detector for several more hours.

•

When the flashlight is on and the battery drops to approximately 20% of capacity, the unit will

“chirp” 4 times, and then disable the flashlight.

•

The NCVT function will remain on, and will not be affected.

BATTERY REPLACEMENT (Fig. 1):

•

Unscrew cap and remove from body.

•

Replace the 2 AAA 1.5V batteries – observe proper polarity.

•

Screw cap on body until cap is fully seated.

•

Damage to O-ring on cap seal can affect IP67 rating but will not affect operation.

CLEANING:

Turn instrument off. Clean the instrument by using a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

STORAGE:

Remove the batteries when instrument is not in use for a prolonged period of time. Do not expose to high

temperatures or humidity. After a period of storage in extreme conditions exceeding the limits mentioned in

the Specifications section, allow the instrument to return to normal operating conditions before using it.

This symbol indicates that equipment and its accessories shall be subject to

a separate collection and correct disposal. Do not place equipment and its

accessories in the trash. Items must be properly disposed of in accordance with

NEDERLANDS WAARSCHUWINGEN:• Gebruikers van deze tester dienen alle waarschuwingen, voorzorgsmaatregelen, veiligheidsinformatie en instructies in deze handleiding door te lezen, te begrijpen en op te volgen alvorens de tester te bedienen of onderhouden. Het niet opvolgen van de instructies kan leiden tot ernstig letsel of overlijden. • Risico op elektrische schokken en brand. Contact met stroomkringen die onder spanning staan, kan leiden tot ernstig letsel of overlijden. • Wees voorzichtig bij spanningen hoger dan 30 V AC, aangezien er sprake kan zijn van gevaar voor schokken. • Als een lampje knippert of brandt en er een pieptoon klinkt, betekent dit dat er spanning aanwezig is. Als er geen aanduidingen worden weergegeven, kan er nog steeds spanning aanwezig zijn.

• Controleer de werking van de tester voor en na elk gebruik in een stroomkring die onder spanning staat en die binnen de classificatie van dit apparaat valt. • Ga er nooit vanuit dat er geen stroom meer staat op neutrale draden of aarddraden. Neutrale draden in een vertakt circuit met meerdere draden kunnen nog onder stroom staan wanneer ze zijn losgekoppeld en moeten opnieuw worden getest voordat ze worden aangeraakt. • De tester detecteert GEEN spanning als:• de draad is afgeschermd;• de gebruiker niet is geaard of op een andere manier is geïsoleerd van een effectieve aarding;• de spanning gelijkspanning is.

• De tester detecteert MOGELIJK GEEN spanning als:• de gebruiker de tester niet vasthoudt;• de gebruiker van de tester wordt geïsoleerd met een handschoen of ander materiaal;• de draad gedeeltelijk is begraven of zich in een geaarde metalen leiding bevindt;• de tester zich op een afstand vanaf de spanningsbron bevindt;• het elektrisch veld van de spanningsbron wordt geblokkeerd, gedempt of op een andere manier wordt gestoord;• de spanningsfrequentie geen perfecte sinusgolf tussen 50 en 500 Hz is;• de tester buiten de gebruiksomstandigheden wordt gebruikt (vermeld in het gedeelte Specificaties). • De werking kan worden beïnvloed door verschillen in aansluiting, het type isolatie en de dikte ervan. • Bij heldere lichtomstandigheden zijn de visuele LED-aanduidingen minder goed zichtbaar. • Gebruik het apparaat niet als het aan/uit-lampje niet brandt.

• Gebruik het apparaat niet als de tester beschadigd lijkt te zijn of niet naar behoren werkt. Vervang de tester in het geval van twijfel. • Probeer niet meer spanning te meten dan de aangegeven waarde op de tester (1000 V). • Het meten van spanning hoger dan 12 V valt onder 'normale' omstandigheden, zoals hieronder wordt aangegeven. De tester detecteert mogelijk vanaf een andere drempelwaarde bij verschillende omstandigheden, of detecteert helemaal geen spanning, tenzij:• de punt van de tester zich binnen 0,6 cm (0,25 inch) van een AC-spanningsbron bevindt die onbelemmerd spanning afgeeft;• de gebruiker de tester vasthoudt met zijn of haar blote hand;• de gebruiker beschikt over een betrouwbare aardeverbinding;• de luchtvochtigheid nominaal is (50% relatieve luchtvochtigheid, niet condenserend);• de tester stil wordt gehouden. • Draag altijd goedgekeurde oogbescherming.

• Als dit product op een andere manier wordt gebruikt dan door de fabrikant wordt gespecificeerd, kan dit van invloed zijn op de bescherming die het product biedt. VOORZICHTIG:• Probeer de tester niet te repareren. Deze bevat geen door de gebruiker te repareren onderdelen. • Stel het product niet bloot aan extreme temperaturen of hoge luchtvochtigheid. BEDIENINGSINSTRUCTIES:Bedrijfsstanden: • De NCVT-3 kan worden gebruikt als 12 - 1000 V AC contactloze spanningstester en/of zaklamp. • De nabijheidssensor geeft de spanningssterkte aan door middel van een ledschaal (afb. 2). NVCT-functie inschakelen:• Druk op de aan/uit-knop 'NCV'. • Er klinkt een pieptoon en het blauwe aan/uit-lampje gaat branden om aan te geven dat het apparaat is ingeschakeld. • Tegelijkertijd lichten de lampjes van de LED-aanduiding (2 gele en 3 rode lampjes) gedurende ongeveer 1 seconde op. • Na 1 seconde gaat de LED-aanduiding uit en wordt het batterijniveau weergegeven: ° Als alle 5 de lampjes branden, is de batterij vol. ° Als 1 lampje brandt, is er nog ongeveer 20% aan batterijcapaciteit over.

Controleren op de aanwezigheid van wisselspanning:• Controleer de werking van de tester voor gebruik in een stroomkring die onder spanning staat. • Plaats de punt van de tester nabij wisselspanning. Als spanning wordt gedetecteerd, geeft het apparaat een reeks pieptonen en geeft de benaderingssensor de gedetecteerde spanning aan (afb. 2). NCVT automatisch uitschakelen:• Wanneer de NCVT-tester gedurende 4 minuten niet is gebruikt, wordt deze automatisch uitgeschakeld om de batterijduur te verlengen. • Als spanning wordt gemeten, wordt de timer voor 4 minuten opnieuw ingesteld. • Als het apparaat wordt uitgeschakeld, klinken er twee pieptonen en gaat het blauwe lampje uit. OPMERKING: deze functie is uitgeschakeld wanneer de zaklamp is ingeschakeld. Wanneer de zaklamp wordt uitgeschakeld, wordt de NCVT-timer voor vier minuten gestart.

Zaklamp in-/uitschakelen:• Druk op de knop 'Zaklamp' om de zaklamp in of uit te schakelen. Zaklamp automatisch uitschakelen:• Wanneer de zaklamp 20 minuten ingeschakeld is geweest, wordt deze automatisch uitgeschakeld. Op deze manier wordt de batterijduur verlengd als de zaklamp onbedoeld wordt ingeschakeld of als u vergeet deze uit te schakelen. • Voordat de zaklamp automatisch wordt uitgeschakeld, wordt er gedurende 10 seconden een geluidssignaal weergegeven. • Als u tijdens dit geluidssignaal op de knop 'Zaklamp' drukt, wordt de timer voor 20 minuten opnieuw ingesteld en blijft de zaklamp branden. • Als u niet op een knop drukt, wordt de zaklamp uitgeschakeld. Aanduiding laag batterijniveau:• Wanneer er nog slechts 20% aan batterijcapaciteit over is, wordt de zaklampfunctie van de NCVT-3 uitgeschakeld.

Op deze manier wordt de batterijduur verlengd en kunt u het apparaat enkele uren langer blijven gebruiken als spanningsmeter. • Wanneer de zaklamp brandt en de batterijcapaciteit daalt tot ongeveer 20%, wordt vier keer een geluidssignaal weergegeven en wordt de zaklamp uitgeschakeld.

• De NCVT-functie blijft onveranderd ingeschakeld. BATTERIJ VERVANGEN (afb. 1):• Draai het deksel los en verwijder het van het apparaat. • Vervang de 2 AAA-batterijen van 1,5 V en zorg ervoor dat u deze in de juiste richting plaatst. • Plaats het deksel terug op het apparaat en draai dit stevig aan. • Schade aan de O-ring in het deksel kan gevolgen hebben voor de IP67-classificatie, maar is niet van invloed op de werking. REINIGEN:Schakel het instrument uit. Reinig het instrument met behulp van een vochtig doekje. Gebruik geen agressieve schoonmaak- of oplosmiddelen. BEWAREN:Verwijder de batterijen wanneer het instrument gedurende langere tijd niet wordt gebruikt. Niet blootstellen aan hoge temperaturen of aan vocht.

Wanneer het instrument enige tijd is bewaard onder extreme omstandigheden, die de grenzen overschrijden van wat in het hoofdstuk Specificaties is aangegeven, dan dient het instrument vóór gebruik eerst te worden teruggebracht naar normale gebruiksomstandigheden. WEGGOOIEN/RECYCLENDit symbool geeft aan dat de apparatuur en accessoires gescheiden moeten worden ingezameld en op de juiste manier moeten worden weggegooid. Deponeer de uitrusting en bijbehorende accessoires niet in de vuilnisbak. De onderdelen dienen op de juiste wijze te worden verwijderd conform de regelgeving ter plekke.
