Because the designs of computers are diﬀerent, only general installation instructions are

given. Please refer your computer’s reference manual whenever in doubt.

1. Plug the USB Type-A end of the Adapter cable into the USB host port of your PC or

into an available USB port on a USB hub

2. Connect the RS-232 Serial Devices to the DB9 male connectors of the Adapter

cable.

3. Use the supplied Wall Mounting Kit to ﬁx the plastic housing body of the Adapter

cable in case required, if you need to ﬁx it on a DIN RAIL, you may need to order

the optional DIN RAIL Clips (EX-6999) from your dealer.

4. Proceed with the next section “Installing Drivers” to install the virtual COM port

drivers for your Operating System.

Die EX-1322 oder EX-1324 ist ein Kabel mit Umsetzung von USB 2.0 auf zwei respekti-

ve vier RS-232 Schnittstellen mit FIFO 16C550 Ports für den Anschluss von High Speed

Seriellen RS-232 Peripherie Geräten (z.B. Modem, Plotter usw.) Die EX-1322/1324 ist

Hot Plug & Play. Für die Einstellungen der I/O Adressen und Interrupts sind keine

Jumper und Einstellungen notwendig. Sie werden vom System BIOS und beim Installie-

ren des Betriebssystems automatisch vorgenommen. Die EX-1322/1324 hat zusätzlich

noch eine Halterung für Wand– oder Trägerschiene-Befestigung.

Windows XP/Vista/2000/Server 2008&2003/Win7 (32&64-Bit) :

Windows will recognize a new “FT232R USB UART“ and open the hardware assistant.

Please choose manual installation and put the driver CD into your CD-Rom drive. Enter

INSTALL THE PERIPHERAL DEVICE:

The speed from the serial ports can be set to the maximum baud rate of 115.2Kbaud.

With double click select for example < >Device manager< > USB Serial Port (COM5) .

Now you can select the diﬀerent settings of baud rate, stop/start-bits etc. This setting

you can use also for the other COM ports.

DRIVER INSTALLATION :

Windows 98/98SE/ME:

If you like to change the port number for example COM 3 to COM 5, open the >Device

Manager< >COM3<, >Settings< click at and then >Advance<. There you can change

“D:\USB_to_IO\FTDI\Linux x86_64“ on the driver CD. They are supported by the most

versions of Linux. Because each individual distribution and kernel version of Linux is

diﬀerent, sadly we cant provide a installation instruction. Please refer to the installation

manual for standard IO ports from your Linux version !

MAC:

There are drivers available for MAC. The drivers are located in the folder

“D:\USB_to_IO\FTDI\MAC OSX or Mac_OS_9_8“ on the driver CD. They are sup-

ported by the most versions of MAC OS. Because each individual version of MAC OS is

diﬀerent, sadly we cant provide a installation instruction. Please refer to the installation

manual for standard IO ports from your MAC OS version !

The EX-1322 or EX-1324 is a plug & play high-speed USB 2.0 to Serial cable for USB

2.0 ports with two or four RS-232 9 pin connectors. It provides each 2 or 4 ports for

devices and 1 uplink USB port for PC. The USB to Serial modules design utilizes the

Chip-Set FTDI with 16C550 UART which incorporates the latest in high speed interface

technology. It is not possible to change the address or IRQ settings manually, they will

be obtained automatically by the system (BIOS) and operating system. The EX-

1322/1324 can use for Wall Mounting or also for DIN RAIL.

HARDWARE INSTALLATION :

Beachten Sie bitte die folgenden Installationshinweise. Da es grosse Unterschiede bei

Computern gibt, können wir Ihnen nur eine generelle Anleitung zum Einbau der EX-

1322/1324 geben. Bei Unklarheiten halten Sie sich bitte an die Bedienungsanleitung Ihres

Computersystems.

1. Verbinden sie nur das Ende des USB A-Stecker von der EX-1322/1324 an die USB

2.0 A-Buchse ihres Computer Systems oder einen freien USB-Anschluss ihres USB

Hub‘s.

2. Verbinden Sie das RS-232 Serielle Gerät an den DB 9 Stecker der EX-1322/1324.

3. Verwenden sie den mitgelieferten Wandmontagesatz um das Plastikgehäuse an

die Wand zu montiere. Für eine Installation auf eine Hutschiene in einem 19“ Rack,

benötigen sie optional unseres Din-Rail Kit EX-6999.

4. Installieren Sie jetzt die Treiber und gehen zum nächsten Abschnitt „Treiber Instal-

lation“.

TREIBER INSTALLATION :

Windows XP/Vista/2000/Server 2008&2003/Win7 (32&64-Bit) :

Windows erkennt automatisch einen neuen „ “. Legen Sie die Treiber FT232R USB UART

CD in Ihr CD-ROM Laufwerk ein (z.B. Laufwerk D:). Lassen sie nicht automatisch nach

dem Treiber suchen. Sondern geben sie folgenden Pfad in das Feld “Quelldatei Pfad etc.“

Die Seriellen Ports, der USB Module können nun auf die Maximale Baudrate von

115.2Kbaud eingestellt werden. Zum Beispiel mit Doppelklick den >USB Serial Port

(COM3)< . öﬀnen Nun können Sie die verschieden Angaben wie z.B. Baudrate, Stopp-

bits usw. eintragen. Die Baudrate darf nicht über 115'200 Baud eingestellt werden. Die

gleichen Einstellungen können auch für die restlichen COM Ports eingestellt werden.

“D:\USB_to_IO\FTDI\Linux x86_64“ auf der Treiber CD. Sie werden unter den meisten

Linux Versionen unterstützt. Da sich die einzelnen Distributionen und Kernelversionen

sehr von einander unterscheiden können wir ihnen leider hier keine Installationsanwei-

sung geben. Bitte halten sie sich an die Installationsanweisung für USB Ports ihrer Linux

Version.

MAC:

Es gibt für diese Karte MAC Treiber. Die Treiber befinden sich im Verzeichnis

“D:\USB_to_IO\FTDI\MAC OSX oder Mac_OS_9_8“ auf der Treiber CD. Sie werden

unter den meisten MAC OS Versionen unterstützt. Da sich die einzelnen Versionen von

einander unterscheiden können wir ihnen leider hier keine Installationsanweisung ge-

ben. Bitte halten sie sich an die Installationsanweisung für USB Ports ihrer MAC OS

Version.
