Ram’s Head Big Muff Pi
Congratulations on your purchase of the Big Muff, a faithful reproduction Ram’s Head
of the highly coveted 1973 Violet Ram’s Head Big Muff heard on countless classic
recordings and famous guitar solos. It delivers the unmistakable, articulate string
separation and exceptional sustain that’s made the V2 Big Muff so sought after. Now
with a few choice updates for convenience including true bypass switching, an LED to
indicate effect status and the option of being powered by a 9-volt AC adapter.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
VOLUME Control – Sets the output level
TONE Control – Provides a range of sounds from high treble to deep bass. As you
turn the knob clockwise the treble increases and bass decreases.
SUSTAIN Control – Adjusts the amount of sustain and distortion.
Footswitch & Status LED –Use the footswitch to toggle between effect and
bypass. The Big Muff is active when the LED is lit. When the LED is off, Ram’s Head
the pedal is in true bypass mode.
IN Jack Plug the output of your instrument or another effects pedal into the –¼”
input jack. The input impedance presented at this jack is 1 17kΩ.
OUT JackOUT Connect the –Ram’s HeadBig Muff’s¼” jack to the input of your
amplifier or another effects pedal. When the Big Muff is in bypass mode, Ram’s Head
the OUT jack is connected directly to the IN jack. The output impedance is nominally
25kΩ.

Powering the Big Muff Pi Ram’s Head
The Head Big Muff Pi may be powered from a 9V battery or an optional 9VDC Ram’s
AC Adapter such as the EHX9.6DC- or any Boss200
®

®
style AC adapters
capable of delivering at least 3 Plug the output of the adapter into the 9V power 0mA.

Please Note: Using the wrong adapter or a plug with the wrong polarity
may damage your Big Muff Pi and void the warranty. Ram’s Head
Changing the Battery
To change the 9V battery, remove the 4 screws on the bottom of the Big Ram’s Head
Muff PiTake off the bottom plate and change the battery. Avoid touching the circuit .
board while the bottom plate is off. Replace the bottom plate and screws.
WARRANTY INFORMATION
Please register online at http://www.ehx.com/product-registration or complete and
return the enclosed warranty card within 10 days of purchase. Electro-Harmonix will
repair or replace, at its discretion, a product that fails to operate due to defects in
materials or workmanship for a period of one year from date of purchase. This
applies only to original purchasers who have bought their product from an authorized
Electro-Harmonix retailer. Repaired or replaced units will then be warranted for the
unexpired portion of the original warranty term.

Return Authorization Number (RA#) from EHX Customer Service before returning
your product. Include with your returned unit a written description of the problem
