1. Intended Use
This tester is designed for quick fault nding and
diagnosing the condition of the glow plug; by powering
the plug without removing from the engine for a “real
world” analysis.
Featuring six LEDs which indicate the glow plug status
and whether the vehicle’s battery has enough charge to
power the glow plugs.
Any other application beyond the conditions established
for use will be considered misuse. Draper Tools accepts
no responsibility for improper use of this product.
This product is suitable for use by enthusiasts and
tradespersons alike.

Information
Important: Read all the Health and Safety instructions
before attempting to operate, maintain or repair this
product. Failure to follow these instructions may result in
injury or damage to the user, the product or the vehicle.
WARNING!
• Follow the vehicle manufacturer’s instructions,
warnings and service procedures.
• The tester is only suitable for 12V vehicle systems.
• DO NOT short contact either the positive or negative
terminals of the battery.
• switch o the engine before using the tester ALWAYS
to prevent any hazards or damage.
• ALWAYS use in a well-ventilated room and avoid
breathing in the exhaust emission and vapour.
• To prevent electric shocks, touch any DO NOT
energised conductors.
• DO NOT touch any high temperature parts or any
running vehicle components to prevent a hazard.
• ALWAYS wear eye protection and appropriate
protective clothing.
• This tester should only be used by qualied personnel.
• DO NOT operate the tester with damaged leads or it
has been dropped, get it checked by a qualied
service representative.
• Flammable fuel and vapours can ignite. DO NOT
smoke or cause a spark in the vicinity of the battery.

6. Operation
Switch o the engine and disconnect the glow plug
connecting wire.

1. Connect the black (-) clip (1) to the negative terminal
of the battery and the red (+) clip (2) to the positive
terminal of the battery.

2. Connect the testing probe (3) to the glow plug –
ensuring it is fully pushed on.
3. Check the LED indicators (4) on the tester.
Indicator Indication
Warning triangle Short circuit
>16A Current is greater than 16A
Less than 3seconds = Normal
More than 3 seconds = Issue
OK Glow plug in good condition
<7A Resistance is too high
Open circuit
<10.5V Voltage of vehicle’s battery is too low.
Do not use tester.
7. Maintenance, Storage and
Disposal
• Wipe the case with a damp cloth and a mild detergent.
DO NOT use solvents or abrasives to clean the tester.
• At the end of its working life, dispose of the product
responsibly and in line with local regulations. Recycle
where possible.
• DO NOT dispose of this product with
domestic waste; most local authorities
provide appropriate recycling facilities.
