MIOe-UMXM Startup Manual 1
Before you begin installing your card, please make sure that
the following items have been shipped:
1. 1 x MIOe-UMXM
2. 1 x SMBUS Cable 25 cm (p/n: 1700033258-01)
3. 1 x USB4 cable 20cm (p/n: 1700034699-01) (Optional)
If any of these items are missing or damaged, please con-
tact your distributor or sales representative immediately.

Enable MIOe-UMXM
1. Connect USB4 Type-C cable(p/n 1700034699-01):
MIOe-UMXM [TYPEC1, TYPEC2] and MB USB4 con-
nector.
2. Connect SMBus cable(p/n: 1700033258-01):
MIOe-UMXM [SMB1] and MB I2C/SMbus.
3. Power on MIOe-UMXM.
4. Power on MB.
5. MB detects MXM fan signals through SMBus.
*MIOe-UMXM should be ready before MB power on.
Change MXM GPU card
1. PowerobothMIOe-UMXMandMB.
2. ChangeGPUMXMunderpowerocondition.
3. Connect USB4 Type-C cable.
4. Connect SMBus cable.
5. PoweronMIOe-UMXMrst.
6. Power on MB.
* MIOe-UMXM should be ready before MB power on.
MB I2C/ SMBus
1. MB can support MIOe-UMXM in either I2C/SMBUS.
2. MB EC detects MXM fan signals through I2C/SMBUS.
3. MB I2C/SMBus will be occupied for MIOe-UMXM
device.
4. When detected, MXM module provide: (a) MXM
temperature, (b) MXM fan infos to SUSI; BIOS collect
above MXM information to HW monitor page.
5. If not connecting SMBus cable, MIOe-UMXM can still
allow MXM module cooler to operate at full speed.
USB4 Host for MIOe-UMXM
1. Any other board providing USB4 with PCIe shall be
compatible to MIOe-UMXM.
