Cycle Guide
This information covers several dierent models. Your dishwasher may not have all of the cycles and
options described.
NOTE: To repeat the same cycle and options used in the previous wash cycle, select Start twice.
Cycles:Descriptions:
Heavy
Use for hard-to-clean, heavily soiled pots, pans, casseroles, and regular tableware.
Includes a heated drying option.
NormalThis cycle is recommended for daily, regular, or typical use to completely wash
and dry a full load of normally soiled dishes. This dishwasher’s government
energy certications were based on the Normal cycle with only the Heat Dry option
selected.**
QuickFor fast results, this cycle will clean dishes using slightly more water and energy. For
improved drying, select a heated drying option.
NOTE: Some detergents are not recommended for short wash cycles; please refer
to your detergent packaging for more information.
BoostThis cycle is more aggressive than the Normal Cycle using a higher amount of
energy, water and temperature along with a longer cycle time to provide improved
cleaning performance. This cycle includes the heated dry option.*
Extended SoakThis cycle quietly soaks dishes with an extended prewash which eliminates the
need to presoak dishes, saving personal time and eort. For optimal cleaning
results during this cycle, add prewash detergent. Use this cycle for loads with heavy
amounts of dried-on or hard-to-clean baked-on food. This cycle includes a heated
drying option.*
*The government energy certications are not based on this cycle and may increase your energy usage.
See the Normal cycle description for the government energy certication cycle.
**No other washing and drying temperature options were selected, and the dishwasher was not
subjected to truncated testing. Rinse aid was not used, and there was no detergent used in the prewash.

more information on loading
the dishwasher.
Step 2. Add Detergent and
Rinse Aid to the Dishwasher
See the Key Usage Tips for
more information on adding
detergent and rinse aid.
Step 3. Check that All Arms
Spin Freely
Items in the rack can block the
spray arms.
WARNING:To reduce the risk of re, electric shock, or injury to
persons, read the IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS, located in
your appliance’s Owner’s Manual, before operating this appliance.
Step 4. Select a Cycle and Options if Desired
Ecient dishwashers run longer to save water and energy, just as driving a car slower saves on
gas. Typical cycle time is approximately 2 1/2 hours, but can take less or more time to complete
depending on selections.
You can customize your cycles by selecting the options desired. If you change your mind, select
the option again to turn o the option. Not all options are available for every cycle. If an invalid
option is selected for a given cycle, the lights will ash. Adding options may increase the cycle

Key Usage Tips
PREPARE AND LOAD THE DISHWASHER
IMPORTANT: Remove leftover food, bones, toothpicks, and other
hard items from dishes. Remove labels from containers before
washing.
NOTE : Upper and lower racks may vary by model.
■Make sure when the dishwasher door is closed that no items are
blocking the detergent dispenser.
■Items should be loaded with soiled surfaces facing down and
inward toward the spray, as shown in the graphics above. This
will improve cleaning and drying results. Angle dirtiest dish
surfaces downward, allowing space for water to ow up through
rack and between dishes.
■Avoid overlapping items like bowls or plates that may trap food.
■Place plastics, small plates, and glasses in upper rack.
■Wash only items marked “dishwasher safe.”
■To avoid thumping/clattering noises during operation, load
dishes so they do not touch one another. Make sure lightweight
load items are secured in racks.
■Use slots in the covers (if provided) and suggested loading
patterns to keep your silverware separated for optimum wash.
■If your silverware does not t into the designated slots, lift and
slide covers o to remove them and mix silverware types to
keep them separated.

ADD DETERGENT
Premeasured Detergents
High-quality premeasured tablets and packs are
recommended for improved performance.
Quality tablets and packs have been proven
better than powder, liquid, or gel detergents at
reducing lming on dishes. Using tablets and
packs over time will start to reduce or eliminate
white lm. They are suitable for all water
hardness and soil levels. Also, by using a rinse
aid, you can minimize repeat buildup of white
lm (not all packs and tablets contain rinse aid).
Always place premeasured detergents in main
compartment and close lid.
NOTE: Follow instructions on the package when using other
dishwasher detergent types. See the complete Owner’s Manual for
more details about powders, liquids, and gels.
■Use automatic dishwasher detergent only. Add detergent just
before starting a cycle.
■Fresh automatic dishwasher detergent results in better cleaning.
Store tightly closed detergent container in a cool, dry place.
FILTRATION SYSTEM (On some models)
IMPORTANT: To avoid damage to dishwasher, do not operate your
dishwasher without lters properly installed. Be sure lower lter is
securely in place and upper lter assembly is locked into place. If
upper assembly turns freely, it is not locked into place.
A
B
Your dishwasher has the latest
technology in dishwasher ltration. This
ltration system minimizes sound and
optimizes water and superior cleaning.
The lter system consists of two parts:
an upper lter assembly and lower
lter.
A. Upper Filter Assembly
B. Lower Filter
TOP RACK ADJUSTER (On some models)
You can raise or lower the top rack to t tall items in either the top or
bottom rack. Adjusters are located on each side of the top rack.
To raise the rack:
Press both rack adjuster thumb levers,
and lift the rack until it is in the up
position and level.
To lower the rack:
Press both rack adjuster thumb levers,
and slide the rack to its down position
and level.
NOTE : The top rack must be level.
ADD RINSE AID
■Your dishwasher is designed to use rinse aid for good drying
performance. Without rinse aid, your dishes and dishwasher
interior will have excessive moisture. The heated drying option
will not perform as well without rinse aid.
■Rinse aid keeps water from forming droplets that can dry as
spots or streaks. It also improves drying by allowing water to
drain o dishes after nal rinse. Rinse aid does not adhere to
dishware and, when used, it is dispensed during each cycle.
■Check the rinse aid indicator
with the door down (varies
by model). Add rinse aid
when indicator drops to
“Add” level.
■Add rinse aid to hinged lid-
style dispenser by twisting the
dispenser cap 1/4 turn clockwise
to open and lift o. Pour rinse aid
into the opening until the indicator
level is at “Full.” Replace the
dispenser cap and turn to “Lock.”
Make sure cap is fully locked.
■To add rinse aid to sliding lid-
style dispenser, open the rinse
dispenser lid by gently pushing
in the center of the lid with your
thumb and pulling up on the edge.
Pour rinse aid into the opening
until the dispenser is full. Then,
close the dispenser by pushing
down gently on the lid.
If you are experiencing poor drying
performance, you may want to try a
higher setting. Turn the arrow adjuster to
a higher number to increase the amount
of rinse aid.
NOTE: For most water conditions, the
factory setting will give good results.
FOLLOW THE PROGRESS OF YOUR DISHWASHER
The Clean indicator glows when a cycle is nished.
RECOMMENDED DETERGENT
The United States and Canada have passed a restriction
limiting the amount of phosphorus (phosphates) in household
dishwasher detergents. Major manufacturers have reformulated
their dishwasher detergent for this change in detergents as
another step in eco-conscious awareness. With these recent
changes, it is recommended to use tablets and packs for
convenience and improved performance.
ENERGY EFFICIENCY
Energy eciency is gained by extending cycle time and
reducing the amount of wattage and water used during the
dishwashing cycle. For exceptional cleaning, cycles are
longer due to soak and pauses
.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Tip Over Hazard
Do not use dishwasher until completely
installed.
Do not push down on open door.
Doing so can result in serious injury or cuts.
