On “Memory Stick”

What is “Memory Stick”?

“Memory Stick” is a new-generation IC storage media that is

ultra-small and lightweight and has far greater storage capacity

than floppy disks. It can be used not only for transferring data

between “Memory Stick” compatible products, but also as a

removable, external storage media for storing data.

“Memory Stick” is available in standard size and a smaller size

called “Memory Stick Duo.” When “Memory Stick Duo” is

inserted into a Memory Stick Duo Adaptor, the size becomes

the same as the standard-sized “Memory Stick” to allow use

with products that are compatible with the standard-sized

“Memory Stick.”

You can not use the standard-sized “Memory Stick” with

this unit.

“Memory Stick” types that can be used with

this unit

The following types of “Memory Stick Duo” are available to

suit your needs.

“Memory Stick PRO Duo”

“Memory Stick PRO Duo” is a “Memory Stick” with the

“MagicGate*” copyright protection technology, and can only be

used with “Memory Stick PRO Duo” compatible devices.

“Memory Stick Duo” (MagicGate/High-speed data

transfer compatible)

“Memory Stick Duo” is a “Memory Stick” with the

“MagicGate*” copyright protection technology, and supports

high-speed data transfer. You can use this unit with any

“Memory Stick”/“Memory Stick PRO Duo” compatible

devices. (The transfer speed varies depending on the “Memory

Stick” compatible device used.)

“Memory Stick Duo”

A “Memory Stick Duo” that allows recording of all kinds of

data with the exception of data requiring copyright-protection

technology (“MagicGate*”).

“MagicGate Memory Stick Duo”

This is a “Memory Stick Duo” featuring built-in copyright

protection technology (“MagicGate*”).

* “MagicGate” is a copyright protection technology using

encryption technology.

This unit does not have “MagicGate” installed, and so does

not support recording or playback of data that requires

“MagicGate”.

Formatting of “Memory Stick”

This deletes all the data recorded on a “Memory Stick”. When

formatting a “Memory Stick Duo”, be sure to format on the

“Memory Stick” compatible products. Besides, when formatting

a “Memory Stick” on a computer, use the “Memory Stick

Formatter” software program. You can get the “Memory Stick

Formatter” at the following Web Site.

“メモリースティック”とは?

“メモリースティック”は、小さくて軽く、しかもフロッピー

ディスクより容量が大きい新世代のIC記録メディアです。“メ

モリースティック”対応機器間でデータをやりとりするのにお

使いいただけるだけでなく、着脱可能な外部記録メディアの1

つとしてデータの保存にもお使いいただけます。

“メモリースティック”には、標準サイズのものとその小型サイ

ズの“メモリースティックデュオ”があります。“メモリース

ティックデュオ”をメモリースティックデュオアダプターに

入れると、標準サイズの“メモリースティック”と同じサイズ

になり、標準サイズの“メモリースティック”対応機器でもお

使いいただけます。

本機では、標準サイズの“メモリースティック”はご使用いた

だけません。

本機でご使用できる“メモリースティック”の種類

以下の“メモリースティックデュオ”がご使用いただけます。

“メモリースティック PRO デュオ”

“メモリースティック PRO デュオ”対応機器でのみお使いい

ただける著作権保護技術（“マジックゲート*”）を搭載した

“メモリースティック”です。

著作権保護技術（“マジックゲート*”）を搭載し、高速データ

オ”対応機器でお使いいただけます。（転送速度はお使いの

“メモリースティック対応機器”により異なります。）

“メモリースティックデュオ”

著作権保護技術（“マジックゲート*”）が必要なデータ以外

の、あらゆるデータを記録できる“メモリースティックデュ

オ”です。

“マジックゲートメモリースティックデュオ”

著作権保護技術（“マジックゲート*”）を搭載した“メモリー

スティックデュオ”です。

*マジックゲートは、暗号化技術を使って著作権を保護する技

術です。

本機は“マジックゲート”を搭載していないため、“マジック

ゲート”が必要なデータの記録や再生はできません。

“メモリースティック”のフォーマットについて

“メモリースティック”のフォーマットとは、“メモリース

ティック”に記憶してあるデータをすべて消去することです。

“メモリースティックデュオ”をフォーマットする場合は、“メ

モリースティック”対応機器でフォーマットをおこなってくだ

さい。またパソコンで“メモリースティックデュオ”をフォー

マットする場合は、「Memory Stick Formatter

」ソフトウェ

アをご使用ください。「Memory Stick Formatter」は下記の

ご注意

すでにデータが書き込まれている“メモリースティック”を

フォーマットすると、そのデータは消去されてしまいます。

誤って大切なデータを消すことがないようにご注意ください。

“メモリースティックデュオ”／

“メモリースティック PRO デュオ”使用上の

ご注意

•端子部（イラストA）には手や金属で触れないでください。

•メモエリア（イラストC）に書きこむときは、あまり強い圧

力をかけないでください。

•強い衝撃を与えたり、曲げたり、落としたりしないでくださ

い。

•分解したり、改造したりしないでください。

•水にぬらさないでください。

•以下の場合、データが破壊されることがあります。

−読み込み中、書き込み中に“メモリースティックデュオ”

を取り出したり、本機の電源を切った場合

−静電気や電気的ノイズの影響を受ける場所で使用した場合

•大切なデータは、バックアップを取っておくことをおすすめ

します。

•万一、本機をお使いいただいてデータの破壊、損失、機器の

故障などが発生した場合でも、その責任は一切負いかねま

す。

•

“マジックゲート”によって著作権保護されたデータは、“マ

ジックゲートメモリースティックデュオ”以外では扱えませ

ん。

•持ち運びや保管の際は、付属の収納ケースに入れてくださ

い。

•以下のような場所でのご使用や保存は避けてください。

−高温になった車の中や炎天下など気温の高い場所

−直射日光のあたる場所

誤ってデータを編集したり、消去したりしないようご注意

ください。

•誤消去防止スイッチ（イラスト

）を動かすときは、先の細

いもので動かしてください。

誤消去防止スイッチについて

誤消去防止スイッチの付いた“メモリースティック

デュオ”を

本機でご使用になる場合は、誤消去防止スイッチを解除してご

使用ください。誤消去防止スイッチを「

LOCK

」にした状態で

は使用しないでください。

“メモリースティックデュオ”／

“メモリースティック PRO デュオ”の取り付

け／取りはずし

図のような向きで、“メモリースティックデュオ”／“メモ

リースティック PRO デュオ”を、挿入口に確実に差し込みま

す（イラスト

）。

取りはずすときは、本機を手に持った状態で“メモリース

ティックデュオ”／“メモリースティック PRO デュオ”を指

で挟んで引き抜いてください。

対応機器のコンパクトフラッシュスロットへ

の本機の取り付け／取りはずし

本機に“メモリースティックデュオ”／“メモリースティック

PRO デュオ”を装着した状態で、対応機器のコンパクトフ

ラッシュスロットに奥までしっかり差し込みます。

コンパクトフラッシュスロットの位置および取りはずしかた

は、各対応機器の取扱説明書でご確認ください。

ださい。“メモリースティックデュオ”およびデータが消滅

（破壊）された場合の補償はいたしかねます。

•Do not touch the terminal (A in diagram) with your hand

or any metal object.

•Do not apply excessive pressure when writing on the Memo

Area ( in diagram).C

•Do not bend, drop or expose to impact the “Memory Stick

Duo”.

•Do not dismantle or modify the “Memory Stick Duo”.

•Do not allow water onto the “Memory Stick Duo”.

•Recorded data may be damaged or lost in the following

situations:

– If you remove the “Memory Stick Duo” or switch off this

unit while writing or reading data.

– If you use this unit where it is subject to static electricity

or electrical noise.

•We recommend that you backup important data.

•We can not accept responsibility in the event that data is lost

or damaged and the unit is damaged while using this unit.

•Data which is copyright protected with “MagicGate” can

only be handled by a “MagicGate Memory Stick Duo”.

•Keep the “Memory Stick Duo” in the case supplied when

carrying or storing it.

•Do not use or store in the following places:

– Where the temperature can get very high, such as inside

a car or in strong sunshine.

– In direct sunlight.

– In high humidity or near corrosive substances.

•Moving the LOCK switch ( in diagram) to the lockedB

position prevents recording, editing or deleting.

* There is no LOCK switch on certain “Memory Stick”

(“Memory Stick Duo”) or “Memory Stick PRO Duo”.

When using a “Memory Stick” with no LOCK switch, be

careful not to accidentally edit or delete data.

•Use a sharp pointed object to move the LOCK switch (B in

diagram).

LOCK (write protect) switch

When using this unit with a “Memory Stick Duo” that has a

LOCK switch, release the LOCK switch. Do not use with the

LOCK switch in the locked position.

Inserting and removing the

“Memory Stick Duo”/

”Memory Stick PRO Duo”

Slide the “Memory Stick Duo”/”Memory Stick PRO Duo”

firmly into the slot in the direction shown in the diagram (D

in diagram).

To remove, hold the unit in one hand and pull the “Memory

Stick Duo”/”Memory Stick PRO Duo” out with your fingers.

Inserting and removing this unit from

the CompactFlash slot of a compatible

device

With a “Memory Stick Duo”/”Memory Stick PRO Duo”

inserted into this unit, slide the unit fully into the

CompactFlash slot of the compatible device.

Refer to the instruction manual of the compatible device for

the location of the CompactFlash slot and the removal

method.

Using with a digital still camera, PDA,

printer, etc. that has a CompactFlash

slot

Refer to the instruction manual of the compatible device for

how to use with a digital still camera, PDA, printer, etc. that

has a CompactFlash slot.

Notes on using this unit

•If you insert this unit into “Memory Stick Duo” compatible

products when no “Memory Stick Duo” is inserted in,

malfunctions may occur.

•Do not keep the “Memory Stick Duo” inside this unit in a

very hot place.

•Never try to use this unit with an incompatible device.

Doing so may damage the “Memory Stick Duo” or cause

recorded data to be damaged or lost.

Troubleshooting

The Memory Stick Duo Adaptor is not recognized when

using a compatible device.

•Make sure there is a “Memory Stick Duo”/“Memory Stick

PRO Duo” inserted in the Memory Stick Duo Adaptor.

•Slide the Memory Stick Duo Adaptor fully into the

CompactFlash slot of the compatible device.

You cannot write, copy or delete data.

•Make sure there is a “Memory Stick Duo”/”Memory Stick

PRO Duo” inserted in the Memory Stick Duo Adaptor.

•Make sure the LOCK switch of the “Memory Stick Duo” is

not in the locked position.

Un « Memory Stick » est un support de mémorisation

léger, il dispose d’une capacité de stockage bien supérieure à

celle des disquettes. S’il est utilisable pour le transfert de

données entre des appareils compatibles avec lui, le

« Memory Stick » est aussi amovible et peut donc servir

comme support de stockage externe pour la sauvegarde de

données.

Le « Memory Stick » est proposé en taille standard et en taille

plus petit,e appelée « Memory Stick Duo ». Lorsqu’un

« Memory Stick Duo » est inséré dans un adaptateur Memory

Stick Duo, sa taille devient la même que le « Memory Stick »

de taille standard, ce qui permet son utilisation dans les

Der „Memory Stick“

Was ist ein „Memory Stick“?

Ein „Memory Stick“ ist ein neues IC-Speichermedium, das trotz

Diskette. Sie können den „Memory Stick“ als auswechselbares

Im Handel ist neben dem normalen „Memory Stick“ auch eine

Kompaktversion, der „Memory Stick Duo“ erhältlich. Wird der

„Memory Stick Duo“ in den Memory Stick Duo-Adapter, der

die Größe eines normalen „Memory Stick“ besitzt, eingesetzt,

ist er mit dem normalen „Memory Stick“ kompatibel.

Ein normaler „Memory Stick“ kann nicht in diesen Adapter

eingesetzt werden.

se inserte un “Memory Stick Duo” en un adaptador para

un “Memory Stick” estándar para poder utilizarse con

productos compatibles con el “Memory Stick” de tamaño

Usted no podrá utilizar “Memory Stick” de tamaño estándar

•No trate de utilizar esta unidad con un dispositivo
