Safety and General Information

Inspect the package contents upon receipt. Notify the carrier and dealer if there is any

damage.

Read the Safety Guide supplied with this unit before installing the UPS.

• Adhere to all national and local electrical codes.

• Changes and modifications to this unit not expressly approved by APC could

void the warranty.

• This UPS is for indoor use only.

• Do not operate this UPS in direct sunlight, in contact with fluids, or where

there is excessive dust or high humidity.

• Do not operate the UPS near open windows or doors.

• Allow adequate space for proper ventilation.

• Always practice safe lifting techniques adequate for the weight of the

equipment.

• The battery typically lasts for two to three years. Environmental factors

impact battery life. Elevated ambient temperatures, poor quality AC power,

and frequent short duration discharges will shorten battery life.

Installation

Note: The battery is not user replaceable. Contact APC by Schneider Electric

Worldwide Customer Support if there are defects in the product and the product is

within warranty.

• Ensure that the capacity of the electric device is 12 V with 1 A or less, and the

DC connector is (OD/ID) 5.5*2.1 mm.

• Choose the appropriate transformer tip to support the electric device.

Turn On the

Back-UPS

Connect the

Back-UPS to

utility power at

the wall outlet.

The Back-UPS

will turn on

automatically. The

indicator LED

will illuminate

green.

Note: The indicator LED will flash green if the Back-UPS is not completely charged.

The Back-UPS will auto charge the battery.

Connect the Loads

Plug in the load to the DC output connector. The Back-UPS will help to protect the

connected load.

Note: The Back-UPS is designed to provide backup power to all kinds of

DC-powered equipment such as routers, modems, set-top box, VOIP phone systems,

surveillance system, alarm system, access control system and other critical telecom

equipment or DC devices.

POWERONOFF/

button

•UPS will be automatically turn on when connected to utility

power under normal utility condition.

•Alarm mode: Press the

POWEROFFON/ button to restart the

UPS.

•Battery mode:

Power off: Press and hold the

POWERONOFF/ button for

5seconds to shut down the UPS, to avoid battery drain.

Power on: Press and hold the

POWERONOFF/ button for 3

seconds to turn on the UPS, if the utility is not available and

battery is fully charged.



Indicator LED

Indicator LED will illuminate/flash to indicate the UPS status.



DC output

Connect the equipment to the DC output connector.



AC input

Connect the Back-UPS to utility power.

WARNING

RISK OF CHEMICAL HAZARD AND EXCESSIVE HEAT

• Replace the battery at least every 5 years.

• Replace the battery immediately when the UPS battery fault is

detected at the end of its service life. Power off the UPS, unplug it from

the AC input.

• Replace battery at the end of its service life.

Failure to follow these instructions can result in death or serious

injury.
