How this crossover is used

The Planet Audio EC10B 2-way elec-

tronic crossover is a high-fidelity signal

processor that allows you to custom-

ize the low l o y evel utput of our input

so surce (e.g., a car radio), o that the

signal can be applied to an amplifier

or t o yamplifiers as a par f a 2-wa

mobile audio system.

It is intended for use in a car audio

sys nc r ntem which i ludes amplifie s i

th se ignal path AFTER the crossover,

and provi ow odes l pass (for subw of-

ers) and hig ow veh pass l le l outputs

(for full r s,ange, mid mid-bass or

tweeters) via RCA connecto .rs

This crossover accepts the input signal

from a 2-channel input source, using

eit ow l R ghher l evel CA outputs or hi

level (speaker) outputs from your head

unit.

Input source selection

The EC10B features both low ( level RCA)

inputs and high level (speaker level) inputs,

enabling you to generate o y s a tw -wa ys-

tem from virtually any head unit you may

own.

If your he uniad t has RCA Left and Right

Channel outputs, you should choose these

for y ut soour EC10B inp urce, since the

quality of sound reproduction is best when

using these.

However, if your head unit lacks RCA

outputs, you can use the speaker outputs

from the head unit sas an input ource for

the EC10B. Si fol t ri mply low he wi ng dia-

grams in this manual closely to make sure

yo get st iu the be performance poss ble

and avoid damaging your head unit.

NOTE: Do not connect h l bot high leve

and low level inputs to the EC10B.

Installation

Before installing your new Planet Audio

crossover, please become familiar with

all the informatio nen contai d in this

manual.

Choose a mounting location where the

unit wil st o wl not di ract r other ise

interfere with the driver’s ability to

control the vehicle.

Use o the rnly installation pa ts and

hardware provi t toded with the uni

ensure proper installation. Using other

parts can cause malfunction and

possible damage to your Planet Audio

crossover.

Avoi a n td inst lli g he unit in a location

which is subject to high temperatures,

direct s t, runligh hot air f om such

so urces as heaters or exhaust lines,

or where it will be subject to contact

with dust, dirt, mois oture r excessive

vibration.

Turning on werthe po

Before powering up fo t r the firs time:

1. Carefully check all electrical and

audio connections.

2. Set all level controls to their minimum

positions.

3. Set all switc hes to the settings

appr i o nsopr ate f r your i tallation.

The EC10B has in FFternal ON/O

circuitry which r poes nds to turning ON

or OFF the head unit of your car audio

system. This requires that your e h ad

unit ad have a remote turn-on le

available on the rear panel (which most

head units have).

With this convenient remote turn-on/off

feature, you nev er have to worry about

turning off th u ere power to the eq aliz

when you shut off the audio system.

When you are confident all connections

have been made correctly:

1. Power up your audio system by

turning on the head unit.

2. Set the volume control on the head

unit to abo 3 ustut /4 volume, and adj

the EC10B’s Speaker Input Gain

controls for each channel to just below

the level of distortion.

Mounting the crossover

The EC10B is designed to be installed

securely to fa flat sur ace in your

vehicle using the screws and washers

provided. Install the unit according to

the diagram below.
