Introducon
The RNWF02 Wi-Fi® module with external antenna requires an calibration step when theantenna-specic
external antenna’s Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) is not ≤ 1.5 (meaning the return loss is > -14 dB) within
the operating bandwidth of 2400 MHz to 2484 MHz. This external antenna calibration procedure is crucial
for achieving the best results for external antennas with 1.5<VSWR<2. This document describes the necessary
requirements and the calibration procedure.

1. External Antenna Calibraon (Cal) Overview
External antenna Cal is an internal calibration performed without the use of external equipment,
such as the IQxel RF test equipment by LitePoint™. It aims to achieve controlled output power
and meet IEEE® when the planned external antenna’s VSWR exceeds 1.5 within thespecications
operating bandwidth. External antennas with a VSWR > 2 are not recommended for use.
1.1 Requirements for External Antenna Cal
1. : Temperature at 25°C and 3.3V supply to DUTOperating Conditions
2. : External antenna connected via U.FL connector to the RNWF02 Wi-FiAntenna Connection ®
module
3. : Hardware Under Test (HUT) enabled modeDevice Mode rmware
4. : Best case is the installation stage of the end product; the better case isRecommended Stage
the assembly stage of the end product in an enclosurenal
