Christmas tale
for 2-6 players from age 5
In a small town far-far away, everyone is excited for Christmas. There are holiday lights in
all the windows, the houses await the holiday all groomed up. Everything is so breathtak-
ing that for a fleeting moment, even the angel got lost in the view. Or had it just seemed
like a moment? Whatâs certain is she took a good look at every twirl in the rose window.
Thatâs how it could have happened that somehow a snow cloud got in her way⊠The
angel slipped and the presents fell all around. Meanwhile, the kids are walking home from
the school/kindergarten Christmas celebration. The way is long and slippery. And you
have to stop so many times, to look at shop windows, talk, pick up lost hats, scarvesâŠ
but maybe they have time to help the angel, too⊠no?
Starting the game:
Place the board in the middle of the table, then assemble the town and the cloud as shown
on the drawing. When youâre done, pick a figure for yourselves and place the discs mark-
ing lost items belonging to your figures in front of you in a heap. Turn them face down and
shuffle them. Place one each on any field with no drawing. If youâre done, turn them right
side up! Put the rest of the figures and lost item discs back in the box! Place the angel on
a field on the board where there is also no obstacle/sign. Place the gift discs beside the
board, facing down. Let the game begin!
The youngest player starts. Roll the die and step accordingly.
PUDDLE
If you reach a field where there is a puddle: donât stand around in it, quickly step one field
ahead!
FOOTPRINT
If you reach a field where there is a footprint, then you got distracted by staring at some-
thing. You were either staring at the reflection of the cathedral, or the choir, or the window
of the toy shop⊠it doesnât matter because once you step here, you miss one turn.
ICE
Be careful, if you step on it, you can easily slip across multiple fields! (the arrow shows
how far you slide)
DEEP SNOW
You can only move very slowly in the deep snow, so whatever you roll with the die, you
can always take only one step forward.
SNOW SHOVEL
While you were walking in town a big snow fell, you have to shovel it away to get into the
house! You miss one turn.
PRESENT
If you are standing on a field with the image of a gift package, help the unfortunate angel
to find one of the presents that scattered around. Draw a card and as quick as possible
(in 10-15 seconds) try to find the package seen on the picture in the town! You may stand
up and walk around. If youâve found it, point at it. The other players should check if you

pointed right. If so, then the angel will fly over next to you on the field where youâre stand-
ing, so you can give her the package and she can send it under the Christmas tree with
her magic. When you go further, the angel will stay on this field and wait for the next player
who steps next to her, or sheâll fly over to the next one who finds a present. If you canât
find the package youâre looking for within the given time, nothing happens. The angel stays
where she is, and you can step forward when itâs your turn again. Place the gift card back
in the heap where you drew it from and mix them well!
Challenge: Not only the player who drew the card can look for the package seen on the
card, everyone can. The angel flies over to the fastest player to find it. The package goes
under the tree all the same!
ANGEL
If you reach a field where the angel is standing then you can take again as many steps as
you rolled before. If the angel is on a field where you should draw a card, then this rule is
valid instead of card drawing.
CHATTING
If you step on a field where there already is someone, then youâre obviously going to chat,
this can take a while⊠so you can leave this field by rolling a five or a six. If one of you
leaves the field then the other is automatically freed and whatever s/he rolls when itâs the
next turn: s/he can go on.
If there are more than two people on one field, rolling a five or six applies to everyone until
there is only one player left.
If you meet on a field where there is a footprint or a snow shovel then you miss a turn. You
donât have to wait for a five or a six, you wouldnât be in the mood to chat anyway.
If you meet in deep snow, you help each other, which means that if one of you rolls a five
or a six s/he can step the number of fields on the die, the other player who was left alone
in the snow can sadly only move step by step.
LOST ITEMS
If you step on a field with a lost item, you have to call its owner to you, whether s/he is in
front of you or behind you. In this case you can go on by rolling anything, it doesnât count
as chatting. If you find your own stuff, youâre lucky! If there are lost items left on the board
at the end of the game, those are lost for good, but no worry, itâs Christmas, maybe there
will be a new hat or scarf among the presents!
Noone can be called back from the Finish! They are already inside in the nice warm room,
they wonât hear you calling! But you can take it after them if you want to!
If some players are really left behind, the angel can fly to the last players and take them to
the Finish so they can celebrate Christmas together with the others!
Contents of the game: 1 game board, 1 town, 2 clouds, 1 Christmas tree, 1 die, 6 figures,
1 angel, 26 gift discs, 6 lost object discs
