IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed,
including the following:
•Read all instructions before using the appliance.
•Inspect the appliance before each use. If any part is damaged, do not use the
appliance and refer to the warranty policy on page 10.
•To protect against electric shock, do not immerse the cord, plug, control panel,
or heating element in water or any other liquid.
•Do not use the appliance with wet hands.
•Do not use the appliance if it is damp or wet. Unplug it immediately.
•Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
•This appliance is not intended for use by children under 12 years of age.
•Children 12 years and older may use this appliance only under constant adult
supervision.
•Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children under 12 years of age.
•Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be performed by children.
•Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles.
•Unplug the appliance from the wall outlet when not in use and before cleaning.
•Allow the appliance to cool completely before cleaning, moving,
disassembling, or storing.
•Do not operate the appliance with a damaged cord or plug, after the appliance
malfunctions, or after the appliance has been damaged in any manner.
•Do not leave the appliance unattended while in use.
•Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or
other hot liquids.
•Make sure the appliance is placed on a flat, stable, dry, and heat-resistant
surface.
•Do not operate the appliance without oil or fat inside the oil pot.
•Do not overfill the oil container. The oil level must be between the MIN and
MAX markings.
•Do not overfill the basket. The basket should not be filled more than 2/3 full.
•Foods with excess moisture, such as frozen fries, may cause foaming and oil
overflow. Dry food as much as possible before frying.
•Do not operate the appliance by means of an external timer or separate
remote-control system.
•Do not place the appliance on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a
heated oven.
•Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter, or touch hot
surfaces.
•Do not use outdoors.

•During the first few minutes of initial use, a slight odor or smoke may occur.
This is normal and should quickly disappear. It will not affect the performance
of the appliance.
•The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance
manufacturer may cause injuries.
•Do not use the appliance for anything other than its intended use.
•To disconnect, turn the temperature control knobto the OFF position, then
remove the plug from the wall outlet.

POWER CORD SAFETY
A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risk of becoming entangled in or
tripping over a longer cord.
Extension cords may be used if care is exercised in their use. If an extension cord is used:
•The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great
as the electrical rating of the appliance.
•The cord should be arranged so that it does not drape over the countertop or
tabletop where it can be pulled by children or tripped over unintentionally.
POLARIZED PLUG
This appliance has a polarized plug, meaning one blade is wider than the other. To
reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only
one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug.
If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug
in any way.
INTENDED USE
This appliance is intended for household use only. It is designed for deep frying food in
hot oil or suitable frying fat. The appliance may be used to prepare foods suitable for
deep frying, such as French fries, shrimp, chicken, fish, onion rings, and similar foods.
This appliance is not intended for commercial or industrial use, outdoor use, boiling
water, heating soups or sauces, or use with any liquid other than suitable frying oil or
fat. Do not operate the appliance without oil or fat, and do not use it with an external
timer or separate remote-control system.
