FICHE POLARISÉE (MODÈLES DE 120 V SEULEMENT)

L’appareil est muni d’une che polarisée (une lame plus large que l’autre). An

de minimiser les risques de secousses électriques, ce genre de che n’entre que

d’une façon dans une prise polarisée. Lorsqu’on ne peut insérer la che à fond

dans la prise, il faut tenter de le faire après avoir inversé les lames de côté. Si la

che n’entre toujours pas dans la prise, il faut communiquer avec un électricien

certié. Il ne faut pas tenter de modier la che.

VIS INDESSERRABLE

Avertissement: L’appareil est doté d’une vis indesserrable empêchant l’enlèvement

du couvercle extérieur. Pour réduire les risques d’incendie ou de secousses

électriques, ne pas tenter de retirer le couvercle extérieur. L’utilisateur ne peut pas

remplacer les pièces de l’appareil. En confier la réparation seulement au personnel

des centres de service autorisés.

CORDON D’ALIMENTATION

1. Un cordon d’alimentation court est fourni pour éviter qu’un cordon long

s’emmêle ou fasse trébucher.

2. Des rallonges électriques sont disponibles et peuvent être utilisées avec

prudence.

3. En cas d’utilisation d’une rallonge :

a) Le calibre indiqué de la rallonge doit être au moins aussi élevé que celui de

l’appareil,

b) si l’appareil est mis à la terre, la rallonge doit être de type mise à la terre avec

3 broches; et

c) le cordon électrique doit être disposé de façon à ce qu’il ne pende pas du

comptoir ou de la table, qu’il ne soit pas à la portée des enfants et qu’il ne

Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycles.

service personnel only.

POLARIZED PLUG (120V MODELS ONLY)

This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce

the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to t into a polarized outlet only

one way. If the plug does not t fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does

not t, contact a qualied electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any

way.

TAMPER-RESISTANT SCREW

Warning: This appliance is equipped with a tamper-resistant screw to prevent

removal of the outer cover. To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not attempt

to remove the outer cover. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Repair should

be done only by authorized service personnel.

ELECTRICAL CORD

1. A short power-supply cord (OR DETACHABLE POWER-SUPPLY CORD) is to be

provided to reduce the risk resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping

over a longer cord.

2. Longer detachable power-supply cords or extension cords are available and

may be used if care is exercised in their use.

3. If a long detachable power-supply cord or extension cord is used,

a) The marked electrical rating of the detachable power-supply cord or

extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the

appliance.

b) If the appliance is of the grounded type, the extension cord should be a

grounding-type 3-wire cord.

c) The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not drape over the

countertop or tabletop where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.

HOW TO USE

This product is for household use only.

GETTING STARTED

• Carefully unpack the coee maker and remove all packaging materials, labels

and/or stickers from the appliance.

• Remove the plastic strip around the plug using scissors.

• Remove and save instruction manual.

• To register your product, go to www.prodprotect.com/blackanddecker.

• Place coee urn on a at, sturdy and heat-resistance surface.

• Wash removable parts as instructed in CARE AND CLEANING section.

BREWING COFFEE

1. Remove locking lid, coee basket and percolator tube. Check to make sure

the spigot is closed. Fill coee urn with cold water to desired water level

marking. Do not overll.

2. Place stem of percolator tube into coee basket.

3. Then holding the center post of the coee basket place large end of

percolator tube into percolator tube well.

4. Add desired amount of regular or percolator grind coee into coee basket

being careful not to get coee grounds in the percolator tube. See the

Coee Making Chart below for reference. Spread coee evenly inside the

coee basket.

Important: For best results, use coarsely ground coee. Avoid using nely ground

coee

as it may cause the coee basket to overow.

5. Place the locking lid on the coee urn and turn clockwise to lock in place.

Caution: Never open the locking lid during the brewing cycle.

6. Plug the cord into a standard electrical outlet. The unit turns on and brewing

cycle starts.

Note: Brewing time will take about 1 minute per cup.

7. Once the brewing cycle is nished, the Ready indicator light illuminates.

Coee is ready to serve!

8. Using a hot mitt, remove the locking lid and carefully remove the coee

basket with coee grounds and the percolator tube. Replace locking lid.

9. The coee urn keeps the coee hot until you unplug it. To serve, place a cup

under the spigot. Push down and hold the lever until the cup is lled with

desired amount, then release the lever. For a constant ow, move the lever

straight up. The lever stays

in the open position until you push it down again.

10. When nished, unplug the unit.

Important: Unplug the unit when it not in use.

COFFEE MAKING CHART

Note: Use this chart as a guide only. Adjust the amount of water and coee as

needed to suit your taste. Be careful not to overll, do not add more than

6120 ml (207 oz) of water to the 40 cup coee urn and 4566 ml (154 oz) of

water to the 30 cup coee urn.

NOTE: We recommend using coee that has been ground specically for use in a

percolator-type coee maker.

However, coee marked “For All Coee Makers” is acceptable. If using a coee

grinder and whole beans, percolator coee should be a coarse grind. A nely

ground coee may cause the coee basket to overow.

HEATING WATER FOR OTHER BEVERAGES--INSTANT COFFEE, HOT CHOCOLATE OR TEA

1. Remove locking lid, coee basket and percolator tube.

2. Fill coee urn with cold water to desired water level marking.

3. Insert the percolator tube into the coee basket then place large end of

percolator tube into the percolator tube well.

4. Place the locking lid on the coee urn and turn clockwise to lock in place,

plug the unit and run a complete brewing cycle. The Ready indicator light

illuminates indicating that the water is hot.

CARE AND CLEANING

This product contains no user serviceable parts. Refer service to qualified service

personnel.

Warning: DO NOT immerse the appliance in water or any other liquid.

After Each Use

1. Unplug the unit and let it cool completely before removing parts and

cleaning.

2. Remove locking lid, coee basket and percolator tube.

3. Wash the inside of the coee urn and the removable parts in warm, soapy

water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. You can also wash the removable parts in

the dishwasher. Run warm, soapy water through the spigot to clean it as

well.

4. Clean the inside of the percolator tube well using a scouring pad to remove

coee residue and keep the unit operating properly.

Important: If the percolator tube well is not cleaned properly after each use, the

unit might malfunction due to coffee buildup.

5. Wipe the outside of the coee urn with a damp cloth and dry with a paper

towel. Do not use abrasive metal scouring pads or cleansers on the outside

of the coee urn to avoid scratches.

CLEANING WITH VINEGAR

Mineral deposits left by hard water can clog your coffee urn. Cleaning is recom-

mended every 2 weeks.

1. Remove locking lid, coee basket and percolator tube.

2. Pour 1 quart cold water and 1 quart white vinegar into the urn.

3. Insert percolator tube, coee basket and locking lid in place.

4. Plug the unit and run a brewing cycle. Once the brewing cycle has nished,

let it soak

for another 15 minutes to soften the deposits.

5. Unplug and empty the coee urn. Wait until the unit has cooled completely

then clean the inside of the coee urn and the removable parts as instructed

in “After Each Use” section to ensure vinegar solution is removed before the

next use.
