IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be
followed, in cluding the following:
Read all instru ctions before using.
After u sing Hot Pot , unplu g cord from wall outlet . Do not leave Hot Pot
plugged in when it is not b eing used.
Hot Pot should al ways b e unplu gged be fore cl eaning.
Be sure Hot Pot cover is properly attached before plugging into the wall outlet
(see ins tructi ons). Hot Pot should remain co vered du ring he ating.
Do not l et cord to uch hot surfaces or h ang ove r the e dge of a count er, tabl e or
other surface area.
Your Hot Pot, its cord and plug, should not be us ed outdoors, immersed in
liquid, p laced near a hot gas o r el ectri c burner or in a he ated oven .
Do not touch Hot Pot when it is hot. Use handle for lifting or carrying.
Supervise closel y when Hot Pot is used b y or near childr en.
Use your Hot Po t only for the h eating and warming tasks d escribed in this
booklet . Do not use attachm ents with your Hot Pot unl ess recommended b y
The West Bend Company.

IMPORTANT SA FETY INSTRUCTIONS
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). As a safety
feature, this plug wil l fit in a pol arized o utlet on ly on e way. If the p lug does not fit
fully in the outl et, reverse the plug. If it still d oes not fit, contact a qualified
elect rici an. Do not attempt to defeat this safety feat ure.
Electric Cord Statement
CAUTION: Your Hot Pot has a s hort co rd as a safet y precaution to prevent personal
injur y or property damage resulting from pulling, tripping or becoming entan gled
with the cord. Do not allow children to be near or use this Hot Pot, without close
adult supervision. If you must use a lon ger co rd-set or an extension c ord whe n usin g
this Hot Pot, the cord must be arranged so it will not d rape or hang ov er the edge of a
count ertop, tabletop or su rface area where it can b e pull ed on b y children or ti pped
over. To prev ent e lectric shock, pe rsonal injury or fire, the electri cal rating of the
extension cord you use must be the same or more th an the wattage of th e Hot Pot
(watt age is st ampe d on und erside o f b ase).
INSTRUCTIONS FOR PLASTIC HOT POT
Clean Before Using
1. Fill Hot Pot with hot tap water to th e 3-cup level. Add a small amount of
dishwashin g detergent and wash inside p ot with a dishcloth or s ponge. Drain
pot, rinse insid e with tap water and d ry.
CAUTION: To prevent personal injury or electric shock, do not immerse Hot Pot, its
cord or plug i n water or oth er li quid.
2. Wash cover in hot so apy water with a dishcl oth or sponge, rinse an d dry.
Your Hot Pot is now ready to use.
How to Use
The plastic hot p ot with auto matic t emperature control is designe d for he ating wat er
only. Do not use it to cook or heat foods as i t does not get ho t enough.

1. Remove cover from Hot Pot b y turnin g it counte rclockwi se to unlo ck, then turn
again and lift off pot. See Diagram 1.
2. Fill Hot Pot wi th cold wat er to the desired cup
level, using the 5-1/ 2 ounce cup markin gs on the
inside of the pot as a guide. Do not heat less
than 2 o r more th an 5 cups of wat er at one time.
3. Place Hot Pot on a dry, level surface. Secure
cover onto Hot Pot by aligning nubs on rim of
cover with notches in ri m of pot. See Diagram 2 .
Turn cove r clockwise: cover will drop slightly.
Then turn cover again until it is secu red in place.
Note arrows on cover for co rrect turn ing
direction. To reduce spills, especiall y if Hot Pot
is tipped over, make sure cover has been turned
clockwise into the se cured positi on. Care sho uld
still be us ed when moving Hot Po t as the secured
cover onl y temporarily reduces water spil ls if Hot Pot is tip ped over.
4. Plug cord into a 120 volt AC electrical outlet ONLY. Allow water to heat until
hot. Two cups of water will be heated in about 4 minutes; 5 cups of water in
about 9 minut es.
5. After water is heated, pour water out spou t into a heat-resistan t servin g container,
making sure cover is secured in place. Water will remain serving hot as lon g as
pot is plugged into an electri cal outlet. When le ss than 2 cups of water remai n in
the pot, unplu g cord from electrical outlet to prevent pot from boiling d r y.
Remove cover from pot to determine amount of water left insi de.
Heating Addi tional Water
If you wish to heat additional water, unplu g Hot Pot and empty water. Refill with
cold water and follow St eps 1 t hrough 5 above .
Cleaning Hot Pot
1. Follow same cle aning instru ctions as given in Clean Be fore Using section.
Always make sure Hot Pot is unplugged from electric al outl et before cleanin g.
Do not use harsh metal scouring pads or cleansers on Hot Pot or cover as
scratching wil l occu r. Do not wash cov er or Hot Pot in an automatic dishwasher.
CAUTION: To prevent personal injury or electric shock, do not immerse Hot Pot, its
cord or plug in wat er or other liqui d.
Special Cleaning To Remove Mineral Deposits
Over time, min eral deposits from water will bui ld up on the inside o f pot. These
must be removed to prevent possible pitting and damage to the metal bottom which
can cause water t o leak out of pot. Pitting voids the warrant y. To prev ent severe
buildup of mineral deposits, always empty and clean after each use.
