IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
To prevent personal injury or property damage, read and follow all instructions and warnings.
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed

Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs and hot pads or oven mitts.
Always unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before
putting on or taking o parts and before cleaning.
Close supervision is necessary when this appliance is used by or near children. This
appliance is not a toy; ensure there is proper supervision of children so they do not play
with this appliance.
This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced
physical, sensory, or mental capabilities; or a lack of experience and knowledge, unless
they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a
person responsible for their safety.
Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, after the appliance malfunctions,
or has been damaged in any manner. For service information see warranty page.
The use of accessory attachments not recommended by West Bend may cause injuries.
Do not use this appliance outdoors.
Do not let cord hang over the edge of the table or counter, or touch hot surfaces including ,
the stove .
Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot
liquids.
Always attach plug to appliance rst, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect,
turn any control to “OFF,” then remove plug from wall outlet. Only the appropriate
cord/connector must be used.
Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
To protect against electric shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or other electric parts in
water or other liquids.
Do not attempt to repair this appliance yourself.
This appliance is not intended to be operated by means of an external timer or a separate
remote-control system.
Always check to ensure handles/legs are assembled and fastened properly. See
instructions regarding handles on page 3.
Periodically check the handles to ensure that they are completely tightened; they should
feel secure and not wobble. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN, AS STRIPPING OF THE SCREWS
AND BREAKAGE OF THE HANDLE CAN OCCUR.
A short, detachable power supply cord has been provided to reduce the risk of becoming
entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
Longer extension cords are available, but care must be exercised in their use. While use of an
extension cord is not recommended, if you must use one, ensure that the marked electrical rating
of the extension cord is equal to or greater than that of the appliance. If the plug is of the grounded
type, the extension cord must be a grounding-type 3-wire cord. To avoid pulling, tripping or
entanglement, position the extension cord so that it does not hang over the edge of the counter,
table or other area where it can be pulled on by children or tripped over.

This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk
of electric shock, this plug is intended to t into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug
does not t fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does nott, contact a qualied
electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
Do not use an outlet or extension cord if the plug ts loosely or if the outlet or extension
cord feels hot.
Do not use glass cover if chipped, cracked or has deep scratches. Weakened glass can
shatter during use. Discard immediately!
Glass is breakable. Care should be taken not to drop or impact the glass cover. If the
cover breaks, it will do so in many pieces. Avoid or discard any foodstus exposed to
broken cover.
Be extremely cautious of steam when removing cover. Lift cover slowly, directing steam
away from you.
Do not set hot cover on cold or wet surface; let cover cool before placing in water. Sudden
temperature change may cause the cover to crack or shatter.
Set cover on hot pad, trivet or other heat protective surface. Do not set hot cover directly
on the counter, table or other surface.
Do not place glass cover with metal ring in the microwave oven.
Do not set glass cover on oven burner or oven heat vent. Sudden temperature changes
may cause the cover to shatter.

Wash the skillet and cover in hot soapy water; rinse thoroughly and dry, including the
terminal pins inside the socket of the skillet where the temperature control ts.
If your skillet handle is not assembled to
the lid, follow these instructions. The
hardware needed for attachment of the

the handle with the hole in the lid, and then
secure with the screw assembly in the
order shown above. overtighten. DO NOT

1. Place appliance on dry, level, heat-resistant surface, away from any edge. NOTE:
Do not block airow under the skillet. If you wish to aid grease draining, open the tilt
leg into position before preheating, to allow grease to ow to one side of the skillet.
2. With the temperature control dial set in the "OFF" position, attach it to the skillet.
Plug the cord into a 120 volt, AC electric outlet only. Do not use any temperature
control other than that which came with your skillet.
3. Preheat the skillet, uncovered, for 2 to 4 minutes or until the desired temperature is
reached, unless the recipe states not to preheat. The signal light on temperature
control will be illuminated while the skillet is heating.
4. Refer to the Temperature G uide in this booklet for selecting the correct heat setting. If
the food is frozen, use the heat setting indicated, but allow for longer cooking times.
