Introduction
The KD-A22 can be installed on a 22-inch acoustic bass drum.
Fully assembled view
* A 22-inch acoustic bass drum is not included with this product.
When using a drum stand (MDS-50K/MDS-50KV)
For the MDS-50K/MDS-50KV, the spacing of the bass drum installation area
is as follows.
Vertical: 590 mm (23-1/4”)
Horizontal: 620 mm (24-7/16”)

Check the Included Items
After opening the package, check that all of the included items are
present. If anything is missing, contact your dealer.

NOTE
Do not pull the cable that is attached to the batter head.

NOTE
A circuit board is attached to the batter board. To prevent injury,
damage, or accident, observe the following points.

Do not touch the circuit board with your ngers.

Do not lay down the batter board with the circuit board facing
downward.

Do not apply excessive force to the circuit board.

Installing the KD-A22
Caution during installation

Before you begin the installation procedure, lay down a mat to
protect the oor or the drum from scratches.

When turning the bass drum upside down, take care not to drop
it or let it overturn.

Muting (such as using weights or a blanket) is not necessary.
Remove such materials from the bass drum. Also, do not install
muting after installing the KD-A22.
1. Attaching the Batter Head
1. Place the bass drum so that the striking surface head is
upward.
2. Loosen the lugs, and remove the hoop and head.
3. Place the batter head on the shell so that the hole in the
batter head is positioned as shown in the illustration.
NOTE
This placement of the batter head assumes that you are using
a single pedal. If you are using a twin pedal, you might need
to adjust the batter head hole position depending on the kick
pedal that you are using. For details, refer to “Using double kick
pedals” (p. 5).

the illustration.

4. Place the batter hoop on the batter head, and adjust the
position of the batter hoop so that the centers of the
batter hoop and batter head are aligned.

5. Move the batter board spacers attached to the batter
hoop to the positions shown in the illustration.

6. Working alternately across opposite sides of the drum,
lightly tighten each lug until the lugs do not wobble.

7. Then tighten each lug another 3/4 of a turn to secure the
batter head.
NOTE
If the batter head is not secured suciently, the sensor might
malfunction, or the sound of the strike might be too loud.
8. Move the batter board spacers attached to the batter
hoop in the directions shown by the arrows, so that they
rmly contact the lugs.

2. Attaching the Batter Board
1. Align the batter board’s circuit board cover with the hole
in the batter head, and place the batter board.

NOTE
Take care that the batter board’s circuit board cover does not
rest on the batter head or catch on the hole. Forcing it could
damage the circuit board/circuit board cover or the battery
head.
2. As shown in the illustration, align the center of batter
head’s strike surface and center of the batter board hole.

3. Lightly press down the batter board so that it rmly
contacts the batter head.

3. Attaching the Batter Board Stoppers
Attach the included batter board stopper (4 pcs.) to the batter
hoop.
NOTE
When attaching the stoppers, take care not to hurt your hand
on the lugs.
1. Push down on the batter board stoppers in a location
where your hand will not strike the lug.
