Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase and welcome to
Philips! To fully beneît from the support that Philips offers,
register your product at www.philips.com/welcome.
Important
Read this user manual carefully before you use the
appliance and save it for future reference.
Warning
This appliance is not intended for use by persons
(including children) with reduced physical, sensory
or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and
knowledge, unless they have been given supervision
or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a
person responsible for their safety.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they
do not play with the appliance.
Caution
Keep the appliance dry (Fig. 1).
Use and store the appliance at a temperature
between 15°C and 35°C.
Remove the batteries from the appliance if you are
not going to use it for some time.
Compliance with standards
This Philips appliance complies with all standards
regarding electromagnetic îelds (EMF). If handled
properly and according to the instructions in this user
manual, the appliance is safe to use based on scientiîc
evidence available today.
Preparing for use
Inserting batteries
The appliance runs on two R6 AA 1.5-volt batteries.
Preferably use Philips alkaline batteries.
Make sure that your hands are dry when you insert the
batteries.
1 Remove the lid of the battery compartment (Fig. 2)
2 Place two batteries in the battery
compartment (Fig. 3).
Note: Make sure the + and - indications on the batteries
match the indications in the battery compartment.
Note: The shaver does not work if the batteries have been
placed incorrectly.
3 Put the lid of the battery compartment back onto
the appliance. First place the top part of the lid (1)
and then press down the bottom part until you
hear a click (2) (Fig. 4).
How to avoid damage due to battery
leakage
Do not expose the appliance to temperatures higher
than 35°C.
Remove the batteries if the appliance is not going to
be used for a month or more;
Do not leave empty batteries in the appliance.
Shaving time
Two new batteries offer a cordless shaving time of 60
minutes.
Using the appliance
Shaving
Your skin may need 2 or 3 weeks to get accustomed to
the Philips shaving system.
Shaving on a dry face gives the best results.
1 Press the switch lock and push the on/off slide
upwards to switch on the shaver (Fig. 5).
The switch lock prevents accidental switching on of the
appliance.
2 Move the shaving heads over your skin. Make both
straight and circular movements (Fig. 6).
3 Push the on/off slide downwards to switch off the
shaver.
4 Put the protection cap on the shaver after use to
prevent damage to the shaving heads (Fig. 7).

Cleaning and maintenance
Never use scouring pads, abrasive cleaning agents or
aggressive liquids such as petrol or acetone to clean the
appliance.
Regular cleaning guarantees better shaving performance.
For easy and optimal cleaning, Philips Shaving Head
Cleaning Spray (type no. HQ110) is available. Ask your
Philips dealer for information.
Note: Philips Shaving Head Cleaning Spray may not be
available in all countries. Contact the Customer Care Centre
in your country about the availability of this accessory.
You can also clean the shaver in the following way:
Every week: shaving unit and hair chamber
1 Switch off the shaver.
2 îCleanîtheîtopîofîtheîapplianceîîrst.îUseîtheî
cleaning brush supplied (Fig. 8).
3 Press the release button (1) and remove the
shaving unit (2) (Fig. 9).
4 Clean the inside of the shaving unit and the hair
chamber with the brush (Fig. 10).
5 Put the shaving unit back onto the shaver.
Every two months: shaving heads
1 Switch off the shaver.
2 Press the release button (1) and remove the
shaving unit (2) (Fig. 9).
3 To remove the retaining frame, push the sides of
the central spring towards each other (1). Then
lift the retaining frame out of the shaving unit
(2) (Fig. 11).
4 Slide the shaving heads out of the retaining frame
and clean them one by one (Fig. 12).
Do not mix up the cutters and the guards.
This is essential since each cutter has been ground with
its corresponding guard for optimal performance. If you
accidentally mix up the sets, it could take several weeks
before optimal shaving performance is restored.
5 Clean the cutter with the short-bristled side of the
cleaning brush (Fig. 13).
Brush carefully in the direction of the arrow.
6 Clean the guard with the cleaning brush (Fig. 14).
7 Slide the shaving heads back into the retaining
frame and put the retaining frame back into the
shaving unit (Fig. 15).
8 Put the shaving unit back onto the shaver.
Extra thorough cleaning
For extra thorough cleaning, put the shaving heads in
a degreasing liquid (e.g. alcohol) every six months. To
remove the shaving heads, follow steps 1 to 4 described
above. After cleaning, lubricate the central point on the
inside of the guards with a drop of sewing machine oil to
prevent wear of the shaving heads.
Storage
1 Switch off the shaver.
2 Put the protection cap on the shaver after use to
prevent damage to the shaving heads (Fig. 7).
Replacement
Replace the shaving heads every 2 years for optimal
shaving results.
Replace damaged or worn shaving heads with HQ4 Ă
Philips shaving heads only.
1 Switch off the shaver.
2 Press the release button (1) and remove the
shaving unit (2) (Fig. 9).
3 To remove the retaining frame, push the sides of
the central spring towards each other (1). Then
lift the retaining frame out of the shaving unit
(2) (Fig. 11).
4 Slide the shaving heads out of the retaining frame
and replace them with new ones (Fig. 12).
5 Put the retaining frame back into the shaving unit.
6 Put the shaving unit back onto the shaver.

HQ4 Ă Philips shaving heads.
HQ110 Philips Shaving Head Cleaning Spray.
Environment
Do not throw away the appliance with the normal
household waste at the end of its life, but hand it in
at an ofîcial collection point for recycling. By doing
this, you help to preserve the environment (Fig. 16).
Batteries contain substances that may pollute the
environment. Do not throw away batteries with the
normal household waste, but dispose of them at an
ofîcial collection point for batteries. Always remove
the batteries before you discard and hand in the
appliance at an ofîcial collection point.

Guarantee restrictions
The shaving heads (cutters and guards) are not covered
by the terms of the international guarantee because they
are subject to wear.

PreparaciĂłn para su uso

superior de la tapa (1) y luego presione la parte
inferiorîhastaîqueîoigaîunîclicî(2)î(îg.î4).
Cómo evitar daños provocados por
fugas de las pilas
No exponga el aparato a temperaturas superiores
a 35 °C.
Quite las pilas si no se va a usar el aparato en un
mes o mĂĄs.
No deje las pilas descargadas en el aparato.
Tiempo de afeitado
Dos pilas nuevas ofrecen un tiempo de afeitado sin cable
de 60 minutos.
Uso del aparato
Afeitado
Puede que su piel necesite de 2 a 3 semanas para
acostumbrarse al sistema de afeitado Philips.
Para obtener los mejores resultados, aféitese con la piel
seca.
1 Para encender la afeitadora, pulse el bloqueo
del interruptor y deslice el botĂłn de encendido/

coloque la tapa protectora en la afeitadora después

Limpieza y mantenimiento
No utilice estropajos, agentes abrasivos ni lĂquidos
agresivos, como gasolina o acetona, para limpiar el
aparato.
Una limpieza frecuente garantiza mejores resultados en
el afeitado.
Para una limpieza fĂĄcil y Ăłptima estĂĄ disponible el
spray limpiador para cabezales de afeitado Philips,
modelo HQ110. Pregunte a su distribuidor Philips.
Nota: Es posible que el spray limpiador de cabezales de
afeitado Philips no estĂ© disponible en todos los paĂses.

1 Apague la afeitadora.
2 Limpie primero la parte superior del aparato con el

3 Presione el botĂłn de liberaciĂłn (1) y quite la unidad
deîafeitadoî(2)î(îg.î9).
4 Limpie el interior de la unidad de afeitado y la
cĂĄmaraîdeîrecogidaîdelîpeloîconîelîcepilloî(îg.î10).
5 Vuelva a colocar la unidad de afeitado en la
afeitadora.
Cada dos meses: cabezales de afeitado
1 Apague la afeitadora.
2 Presione el botĂłn de liberaciĂłn (1) y quite la unidad
deîafeitadoî(2)î(îg.î9).
3 Para quitar el marco de retenciĂłn, presione
en ambos lados del muelle central (1). Luego
extraiga el marco de retenciĂłn de la unidad de
afeitadoî(2)î(îg.î11).
4 Saque los cabezales de afeitado del marco de
retenciĂłnîyîlĂmpielosîunoîporîunoî(îg.î12).
No mezcle las cuchillas y protectores entre sĂ.
Esto es sumamente importante, ya que cada cuchilla
ha sido aîlada con su protector correspondiente para
asegurar un resultado Ăłptimo. Si mezcla accidentalmente
los conjuntos, puede que tarde varias semanas en volver a
obtener el Ăłptimo rendimiento en el afeitado.
5 Limpie la cuchilla con el lado de cerdas cortas del
cepilloîdeîlimpiezaî(îg.î13).
Cepille con cuidado en la direcciĂłn de la îecha.
6 Limpie el protector con el cepillo de
limpiezaî(îg.î14).
7 Vuelva a insertar los cabezales de afeitado en el
marco de retenciĂłn y coloque de nuevo Ă©ste en la
unidadîdeîafeitadoî(îg.î15).
8 Vuelva a colocar la unidad de afeitado en la
afeitadora.
Limpieza a fondo
Para una limpieza mĂĄs a fondo, sumerja los cabezales de
afeitado en un lĂquido desengrasante (p.ej. alcohol) cada
seis meses. Para sacar los cabezales de afeitado, siga los
pasos del 1 al 4 indicados anteriormente. Después de
limpiarlos, lubrique el punto central del interior de los
protectores con una gota de aceite para mĂĄquinas de
coser para evitar el desgaste de los cabezales de afeitado.
Almacenamiento
1 Apague la afeitadora.
2 Para evitar deterioros en los cabezales de afeitado,
coloque la tapa protectora en la afeitadora después
deîusarlaî(îg.î7).
SustituciĂłn
Cambie cada 2 años los cabezales de afeitado para
conseguir Ăłptimos resultados.
Sustituya los cabezales de afeitado gastados o
deteriorados sĂłlo por cabezales de afeitado Philips HQ4
Ă.
1 Apague la afeitadora.
2 Presione el botĂłn de liberaciĂłn (1) y quite la unidad
