OWNER’S INFORMATION SUPPLEMENT
Doors and engine hood: Check that the
doors and engine hood operate properly.
Also ensure that all latches lock securely.
Lubricate hinges, latches, latch pins, rollers
and links if necessary.
When driving in areas using road salt or
other corrosive materials, check lubrica-
tion frequently.
WARNING
To avoid risk of crash or injury due to
hood opening while driving, clean and
lubricate hood latch at each service/oil
change.
To avoid risk of injury or crash due to
hood opening while driving, NISSAN re-
quires the hood latch secondary lock
be properly maintained by cleaning
and lubricating the pivot point of the
secondary lock mechanism.
Specifically, the secondary lock must
be cleaned with brake cleaner or
equivalent cleaning agent, dried, and
finally a non-aerosol white lithium
grease applied, with brush per the fol-
lowing diagram.
Hood latch cleaning and lubrication
must be performed at each oil change
interval with a final function check of
the secondary lock to ensure free
movement.
If the secondary lock does not move
freely after cleaning and lubricating, or
if the hood can be opened without
manually releasing the secondary lock
under the hood, please ensure the
hood is fully closed with the primary
lock engaged and have the hood latch
checked and serviced as soon as pos-
sible. It is recommended that you visit a
NISSAN dealer for this service. LDI3681
