Wind Gauge for Netatmo Weather Staon

What is the addional Wind Gauge module?

You can add an addional Wind Gauge module to your Netatmo Weather Staon. It does not work

separately and needs the Netatmo Staon to operate.

It allows you to monitor wind speed and direcon.

You can add only one Wind Gauge module to your Netatmo Weather Staon.

Setup and precauon

Important:

- Do not twist the Wind Gauge.

- Do not touch the sensors.

Setup from smartphone / PC

To add an addional Wind Gauge module to the staon, follow the instrucons on its quick start

guide, or click on "Add/Remove a module" in the sengs menu, under "My staons". The app will

guide you through the installaon.

1. You need to launch the module Manager from the smartphone/tablet app or your PC.

o If you are using a PC, connect the staon to the PC with the USB cable.

o If you are using your smartphone, touch the top of the staon’s main module unl it

blinks blue, the staon is now in Bluetooth mode so it can be congured from your

phone.

2. Select the opon New Wind Gauge . “ ”

3. Remove the baeries from the Wind Gauge and reinsert them. You need to unscrew the four

screws at the boom base to access the baeries compartment.

4. Once the baeries are reinserted, place the Wind Gauge next to the staon (at about 10 cm

/ 4 inches).

5. The Staon will recognize the module. The setup is done. Now you can place the Wind Gauge

up to 100m away from the main Staon, nd below some ps on how to nd the best spot.

The Wind Gauge should be placed at the highest point possible in order to get reliable measures and

avoid turbulences created by obstacles surrounding it. It is recommended to place it about 1 m / 4 .

above the top of your roof.

The Wind Gauge should be placed horizontally and the arrow (there’s one at on the top and one in

the boom) must be poinng to the North. You can use your smartphone's compass app to check

that when you install your Wind Gauge at home.

To secure the Wind Gauge, you may use a ¼ inches standard camera mounng screw.

Wind measurement

Wind speed and direcon are measured using four ultrasonic transducers. The Wind Gauge measures

the me between the moment a signal is emied and the moment it is received, along two

perpendicular direcons. Wind speed along the N-S axis and W-E axis are then merged using

trigonometric funcons to obtain the real speed and the direcon.

Displayed measures

Your dashboard displays:

- Last 5 minutes average wind speed and direcon. The arrow indicates the wind direcon and its size

is proporonal to the speed. Light grey dashes around the arrow indicate the dominant wind

direcons during the last hour.

An arrow poinng down means that the wind is blowing from the North (N = 0°). An arrow poinng

to the le means that the wind is blowing from the East (E = 90°).

- Maximum wind gust (speed and direcon) over the last 10 minutes.

- Maximum wind gust (speed and direcon) during the day (since last midnight).

Graphs let you navigate through historic average wind (speed and direcon) and gusts (speed and

direcon).
