General information

Cover slips are required for preparing your own microscope slides. They are used to

cover the specimen placed on a blank slide. You study the sample through the cover

slip; this places high demand on the quality of such glasses.

Levenhuk G100 Cover Slips are designed to function with materials of different complexity.

They are made of high-quality glass using the latest technologies and possess a high degree of transparency. The

cover slips can be used with any microscope. The glass is homogeneous, without cracks or bubbles, which ensures

the best viewing experience without any distortion.

The set includes 100 square-shaped thin cover slips with thickness around 0.13-0.17 mm. Levenhuk G100 Cover

Slips may be used with any model of optical microscope.

Preparing microscope slides

With Levenhuk blank slides and cover slips you can prepare your own microscope slides for studying.

To prepare a temporary or permanent microscope slide, follow these steps:

• Place several drops of water on the blank slide (salt or sugar solutions may be used in some cases). This way,

the specimen will be completely flat and appear brighter and clearer, because water transmits light better

than glass.

• Carefully place a cover glass on top of the specimen. Hold the cover glass firmly and make sure there are no

air bubbles. Now you have a temporary microscope slide.

• If you want to prepare a permanent microscope slide, you need to fix the cover glass in place with resin or

waterproof glue. To do so, carefully place some resin or glue on the edges of the cover glass and wait for the

adhesive to dry completely.

• Place the slide on the microscope stage and fix it with stage clips.

• Now you can start studying the slide.

•After you are done with your observations, rinse both glasses to remove any stains and wipe them thoroughly.

Remember that re-use of the glasses is only possible in case of using temporary slides.

Useful tips:

• Do not use water or salt solutions in case you want to study something that is easily soluble in water.

• Use cloths made of lint-free materials for cleaning the glasses after your observations.

• To obtain a thin slice of studied sample, use a special instrument called a microtome. A microtome allows you

to cut extremely thin slices, which transmit light easily and fully reflect the structure of studied samples.

CAUTION:

• Use cover slips for their intended purposes only.

• Cover slips are made of glass and are fragile. Please handle with care.

• To avoid possible injury through splinters or sharp edges, do not use glasses that show signs of breakage.

• In case of any injury caused by damaged glass, seek medical help immediately.

• If cover slips are to be used by children, adult supervision is strongly recommended.
