SUPPLIED ITEMS

Your software package includes the following:

• CD

• Installation manual

RECOMMENDED SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

• Recommended operating systems as follows:

Windows 7, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10 operating system.

(Use in desktop mode is recommended. This software does

not support touch input.)

• Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5(Includes .NET2.0 and 3.0)

• CPU: Recommended by the OS or faster.

• RAM: Recommended by the OS or more.

• 1024 x 768 screen resolution or higher.

• CD-ROM/ DVD-ROM drive.

• Microsoft MapPoint 2006/ 2009/ 2010/ 2011/ 2013 < North

American Maps/ European Maps > (Optional).

• 100 MB of free hard drive space plus an additional 1.9 GB for

the Microsoft MapPoint software.

• COM port.

This KAS-10 package does not include Microsoft MapPoint software.

To use MapPoint, you must purchase it separately and install it.

Depending on the type of supplied media of the Microsoft

MapPoint, a DVD-ROM drive may be required.

The Dutch version of Microsoft MapPoint is not available.

To use the IP Network protocol, you must purchase a USB-3000 vocoder

unit separately. The USB-3000 is a product from DVSI corporation.

INSTALLING AND RUNNING THE SOFTWARE

Note:

To install the MapPoint and KAS-10 and to start up the KAS-10,

you must use the same user name to log onto Windows 7,

Windows 8.1, or Windows 10.

To install or uninstall the KAS-10 in a Windows environment, you

must have administrator privileges.

◆

Exit all Windows applications before installing the software.

Installing Microsoft MapPoint

• When using MapPoint, follow the procedure below for

installation.

• When using Scanned Map, it is not necessary to follow the

procedure below.

Insert the Microsoft MapPoint disc labeled “Disc 1 Setup”

into your CD-ROM drive or the DVD disc into your DVD-ROM

drive.

If the setup program does not start automatically, double-

click the “My Computer” icon, select the CD-ROM/ DVD-

ROM drive containing the Microsoft MapPoint disc and then

double-click “setup.exe”. Follow the instructions that appear

on the screen to install the software.

If a newer version of MapPoint is installed onto a PC where a

previous or earlier version has been installed, we recommend you

uninstall the previous or earlier version of MapPoint.

Refer to the instruction manual supplied with MapPoint for details

describing how to install the MapPoint software.

The GPS Locator supplied with MapPoint 2006/ 2009/ 2010 with

GPS Locator cannot be installed in KENWOOD transceivers.

Do not connect these types of receivers to your KENWOOD

transceivers.

Insert the supplied CD into your CD-ROM drive.

Run the “setup.exe” fi le in the CD.

Follow the instructions given in the installation program.

When using the IP Network Protocol , place the USB-3000

into the USB port.

Click the “KAS-10” icon in the Start menu to run the software.

Note:

To install this software, you must enter the serial number that is

printed on the disc case.

The serial number will not be re-issued if it is lost or misplaced.

Be sure to keep it in a safe place.

TIPS FOR OPERATION

Refer to the Help texts or the Basic Operations fi le in this

software, for operation details of the KAS-10.

Note:

Basic Operations fi le is available in PDF fi le format. To read the

fi le, you must use Adobe Reader.

◆

An icon fi le to be registered in an Icon of Mobile Station Options

needs to be confi gured with transparency. In addition, the 4 pixels

of the 4 icon corners must always be transparent.
