Auto Fire Extinguishers
IMPORTANT! Please read carefully and save.
This user’s manual contains important information about your fire
extinguisher’s operation. If you are installing this fire extinguisher for
use by others, you must leave this manual—or a copy of it—with the
end user.
Read extinguisher label and the entire user’s manual carefully before
installing or using the unit. Make sure everyone in your household is
completely familiar with the operation of the extinguisher, and review
the instructions regularly. In an emergency, you will not have time to
read instructions.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT
FIRE EXTINGUISHERS
NOTE: Be sure the extinguisher is rated to fight the type of fire most
likely to occur in the area you choose to install it. Since household fires
commonly start in the kitchen, you should always install an extinguisher
in the kitchen. For added security, you should also install additional
extinguishers in utility areas, and other living areas in your household.
Model FESA5 is rated 5-B:C. It is NOT rated to fight Class A fires.
READ BEFORE INSTALLING OR USING
THIS FIRE EXTINGUISHER!
Fire extinguishers are classified by fire type. The A, B and C
rating system defines the kinds of bur ning materials each fire
extinguisher is designed to fight. The numbers in front of the
A, B, or C indicate the rating for size of the fire the unit can
extinguish. Using the wrong type of fire extinguisher can do
more harm than good. Make sure you understand which fire
extinguisher to use on each class of fir e!
Class A rating: The agent/powder is suitable for
fighting small fires involving wood, paper, cloth,
rubber, and some plastics.
Class B rating: The agent/powder is suitable for
fighting small fires involving grease, oil, gasoline,
kerosene, and other flammable liquids.
Class C rating: The agent/powder is suitable for
fighting small fires in "live" electrical equipment.
WHERE TO INSTALL THIS EXTINGUISHER
This extinguisher is designed to be used in your car or other vehicle.
It has a special mounting bracket to keep the unit from discharging
accidentally. We recommend you mount the extinguisher to keep it
safe from puncture or other damage. Since not every vehicle can
accommodate the mounting bracket, the bracket is also designed
to keep the extinguisher from rolling if you do not mount it.
HOW TO INSTALL THIS EXTINGUISHER
NOTE: Since surface types vary, mounting screws are not included.
Purchase screws or bolts specifically designed for the surface on
which you will mount the fire extinguisher. The fire extinguisher label
lists its maximum weight.
Installing the Mounting Bracket in a Vehicle
Remove mounting bracket from extinguisher by unlocking the clasp
and pulling the bracket away from the extinguisher. Use two strong
screws (such as #8 machine screws) to mount the bracket securely
onto metal or another solid surface that can support the weight of the
fire extinguisher. The mounting bracket must be secure so you can
remove the extinguisher quickly in an emergency.

screws) with washers and nuts.
The screws should not be
longer than necessary to
accommodate a washer and
nut. Mounting screws, washers,
and nuts are not included (see
Note above.)
2. After installing the mounting
bracket, replace the extinguisher
on the bracket with the nose
of the extinguisher pointing into
the bracket.
CHECKING AND INSPECTING
THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER
1. Inspect and test the extinguisher once a
week. Start by removing the extinguisher
from the mounting bracket/cap. Check
the extinguisher pressure by pressing the
green button on top of the cap as shown
in “Checking the Pressure.” If the button
pops back up, the extinguisher is properly
pressurized and ready to use. If the
button stays down, the extinguisher has
lost pressure and must be replaced.
2. Check for signs of damage or misuse.
Make sure you can still read all the text on
the label. Carefully examine the surface
of the extinguisher for corrosion. You can
help prevent corrosion by cleaning the
extinguisher if it gets wet or dirty. If you
notice corrosion during the warranty period, return the unit to
First AlertÂŽ(see "Limited Warranty" at the end of this manual).
3. Make sure the tamper indicator
(“safety seal”) is still intact as shown
in “Location Of The ‘Safety Seal’” and
the nozzle is clean and unobstructed.
4. When you finish inspecting the fire
extinguisher, always put it back into
the mounting bracket. Make sure the
handle is locked down and the safety
seal is intact.
For more information about fire extinguishers, consult the NFPA
Standard #10, “Portable Fire Extinguishers,” available from the
National Fire Protection Association, Inc., Batterymarch Park, Quincy,
MA 02169, USA.
• This extinguisher has a quick-release bracket for
m ounting. Mount the extinguisher as shown in “Installing
the Mounting Bracket.”
• Do not use sheet metal screws or wood screws; vehicle
vibrations may loosen them.
• Do not make holes in the vehicle structure if you are not sure
what is on the other side. You may accidentally cause severe
damage to electrical lines, gasoline lines or tanks, or other
vehicle systems.
• Do not break the plastic loop holding the safety pin in place!
This loop pr events accidental discharge of the fire
extinguisher. Break the loop only in an emergency before
using the fire extinguisher.
HOW TO OPERATE YOUR FIRE
EXTINGUISHER IN A FIRE EMERGENCY
TO FIGHT THE FIRE
If You Suspect a Vehicle Fire:
1. Pull vehicle over, away from all traffic.
2. Turn off vehicle engine.
3. Evacuate all passengers and move them a safe distance from the
vehicle. Do not plug a cellular phone into your own vehicle to call
the Fire Department.
4. Remove the extinguisher from the mounting bracket.
5. Hold the extinguisher firmly, with the nozzle
facing away from you. Pull out the pin to
break the ‘Safety Seal.’ You won’t be able to
squeeze the trigger until the safety seal is
removed.
6. Stand back 6 feet (2 meters) from the fire
and make sure the fire is not between you
and your exit.
7. Hold the extinguisher upright and aim the
nozzle at the base of the fire.
8. Press and hold the trigger to discharge the
powder.
9. Sweep the spray at the base of the burning
material, using quick side-to-side motions.
(If the spray scatters the fire, move back.)
10. Move slowly towards the fire as the
extinguisher spray pushes the fire back.
Maintain a 6-foot (2 meter) distance between
you and the front of the fire at all times.
11. Completely discharge the contents of the extinguisher and make
sure the fire is completely out. Flashbacks are common with fires.
AFTER THE FIRE IS EXTINGUISHED
Do not start the vehicle up or plug in any electrical accessories
(cellular phone, CD player, TV or VCR, etc.) until the vehicle has
been cleaned up completely. It is very important to remove the
powder from electrical equipment after a fire. If the powder gets
wet, it can conduct electricity. (Using a dr y chemical extinguisher
on wet electrical equipment can be hazardous for this reason.)
This may worsen an electrical leakage problem, impair the
equipment’s insulation, or create an electrical shock hazard.
If you think the fire had an electrical origin:
• Turn off the engine and do not touch any electrical wires,
fuses or accessories.
• Leave the vehicle and stay a safe distance away until the Fire
Department arrives.
• Do not restart the vehicle or plug in any electrical appliances or
accessories until a licensed mechanic has inspected the vehicle’s
electrical system.
• Make sure your extinguisher may be safely and effectively
used on the small fire you want to fight. Always use extreme
caution when fighting any fire. Fight a fire only where there is
a clear escape path to allow you to get out safely if the fire
gets worse.
• Avoid breathing smoke and heated fumes; stay low if
necessary. Burning materials will release toxic fumes.
Inhaling these fumes may cause injury or death.
• Always stand back far enough away from the fire—near
an exit—and make sure nothing is between you and your
escape route. If you get too close to a fire, you risk getting
burned or hit by splattering material like grease. If the fire
is too hot or smoky for you to get within 6 feet (2 meters),
DO NOT try to fight the fire yourself. Evacuate immediately
and call the Fire Department.
• For fires on a kitchen stove, turn oven or burners off
immediately if possible. If you can’t reach the oven or burner
controls safely, extinguish the fire first, then turn them off.
• Fight the fire from an upwind direction with your back to any
strong air current. Trying to fight a fire with currents blowing
towards you can result in serious injury.
IF YOUR EXTINGUISHER NEEDS SERVICE
This fire extinguisher is a disposable device that is NOT rechargeable.
Do not try to service or repair this fire extinguisher under any
circumstances. Do not try to remove the nozzle or valve assembly.
This is a pressurized device that can cause serious injury if
tampered with.
If there is a problem and it is still under warranty, please see “How to
Obtain Warranty Service” in the Limited Warranty.
DISPOSING OF A USED EXTINGUISHER
Completely discharge the extinguisher outdoors by turning the unit
upside down and pulling the trigger. Dispose of the empty unit
properly and replace it with a new fire extinguisher.
Never puncture, burn or expose this fire extinguisher to tempera-
tures over 150° F (66° C) even if it is fully discharged. The contents
are under pressure and it could explode.
LIMITED WARRANTY
BRK Brands, Inc. ("BRK") the maker of First AlertÂŽbrand products,
warrants that for a period of ten years from the date of purchase,
this product will be free from defects in material and workmanship.
BRK, at its option, will repair or replace this product or any component
of the product found to be defective during the warranty period.
Replacement will be made with a new or remanufactured product or
component. If the product is no longer available, replacement may
be made with a similar product of equal or greater value. This is your
exclusive warranty.
This warranty is valid for the original retail purchaser from the date of
initial retail purchase and is not transferable. Keep the original sales
receipt. Proof of purchase is required to obtain warranty performance.
BRK dealers, service centers, or retail stores selling BRK products do
not have the right to alter, modify or any way change the terms and
conditions of this warranty.
This warranty does not cover normal wear of parts or damage result-
ing from any of the following: negligent use or misuse of the product,
use on improper voltage or current, use contrary to the operating
instructions, disassembly, repair or alteration by anyone other than
BRK or an authorized service center. Further, the warranty does not
cover acts of God, such as fire, flood, hurricanes and tornadoes.
BRK shall not be liable for any incidental or consequential damages
caused by the breach of any express or implied warranty. Except
to the extent prohibited by applicable law, any implied warranty of
merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose is limited in duration
to the duration of the above warranty. Some states, provinces, or
jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or
consequential damages or limitations on how long an implied warranty
lasts, so the above limitations or exclusion may not apply to you.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have
other rights that vary from state to state, or province to province.
How to Obtain Warranty Service
Service: If service is required, do not return the product to your
retailer. In order to obtain warranty service, contact the Consumer
Affairs Division at 1-800-323-9005, 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, Central

• This extinguisher is designed for use against small fires
that have just started and ar e small enough to fight safely.
It is not designed to fight large fires that are burning out of
control. If the fire is too hot or smoky for you to get within
6 feet (2 meters) of it, do not try to fight it yourself. Warn
everyone, evacuate the premises, and have someone call
the Fire Department from outside the building. Trying to
fight a large fire yourself can result in injury or death.
• Do not puncture or burn any fire extinguisher. The contents
are under pressure, and the extinguisher could explode.
• Never locate this extinguisher close to an engine, stove or
other source of heat. It is pressurized and could rupture or
explode if exposed to temperatures over 150 ° F (66° C).
• This extinguisher contains a dry powder extinguishing agent.
The agent/powder is nontoxic, but can irritate skin. When using
this unit, avoid breathing the powder. Always ventilate the area
after use.
DO NOT CHECK THE PRESSURE OR TEST THE FIRE
EXTINGUISHER BY SQUEEZING THE TRIGGER, EVEN BRIEFLY.
ONCE USED IT WILL GRADUALLY LOSE PRESSURE AND WILL
NOT BE FULLY CHARGED FOR USE IN AN EMERGENCY.

HOW TO CLEAN AFTER USING A FIRE
EXTINGUISHER
NOTE: The powder spray from the extinguisher may spread over a
wide area, and may soil upholstery, carpets and walls.
• Sweep/vacuum up as much of the powder as possible. Then use
a damp cloth to wipe off the remaining agent.
• If you have any questions about cleaning appliances that the
agent has come into contact with, please contact the appliance
manufacturer.

• Turn off the engine immediately if you suspect a vehicle fire.
Evacuate the car, sending passengers a safe distance away.
If you see flames escaping from under the vehicle’s hood,
the fire is too large to fight. DO NOT attempt to open the
hood or fight the fire; instead move a safe distance from the
car and call for help immediately . Trying to fight this size fire
could result in injury or death.
• If there are no visible flames and you attempt to fight a
small fire, always use extreme caution if lifting your vehicle’s
hood. Flames may flash when you open the hood, which can
cause severe injury or death.
• This unit will not operate with mounting bracket attached.
The extinguisher must be removed from the mounting
bracket or it cannot discharge its contents to fight a fire.

EXTINTORES DE INCENDIOS
NOTA: CerciĂłrese de que el extintor estĂŠ clasificado para combatir
el tipo de incendio que mĂĄs probabilidades tenga de originarse en el
ĂĄrea donde se va a instalar. Siempre instale un extintor en la cocina,
ya que ahĂ­ se producen la mayorĂ­a de los incendios. Para brindar
mayor protecciĂłn, se deben instalar unidades adicionales en ĂĄreas de
servicios y demĂĄs habitaciones usadas frecuentemente por la familia.
El modelo FESA5 estĂĄ clasificado para combatir incendios
clase 5-B:C. NO sirve para combatir incendios clase A.

Este extintor estĂĄ diseĂąado para usarse en automĂłviles u otro tipo de
vehĂ­culo. Cuenta con un soporte de montaje especial para impedir que
la unidad se descargue en forma accidental. Para evitar que el extintor
se perfore o daĂąe, se recomienda colocarlo en el soporte de montaje.
Debido a que no todos los vehĂ­culos tienen espacio suficiente para
montar el soporte, el diseĂąo del mismo impide que el extintor ruede
aun cuando no se monte.
CÓMO INSTALAR EL EXTINTOR
NOTA: Debido a la variedad en los tipos de superficie,
los tornillos
de montaje no se incluyen. Use tornillos o pernos especialmente
diseĂąados para la superficie en la cual montarĂĄ el extintor. En la
etiqueta del extintor encontrarĂĄ el peso mĂĄximo de la unidad.
CĂłmo instalar el soporte de montaje en un vehĂ­culo
Retire el soporte de montaje del extintor destrabando la abrazadera
y etirando del soporte en dir cciĂłn contraria a la unidad. Use dos
tornillos resistentes (tipo tornillo No. 8 para metales) para montar
firmemente el soporte sobre la superficie metĂĄlica u otra superficie
sĂłlida que resista el peso del extintor. Monte firmemente el soporte
para poder retirar el extintor rĂĄpida y fĂĄcilmente en una emergencia.

montaje". Use tornillos resistentes
(como tornillos No. 8 para metales)
con arandelas y tuercas. Los tornillos

CÓMO REALIZAR LA LIMPIEZA TRAS USAR
UN EXTINTOR DE INCENDIOS

ĂĄrea y puede manchar la tapicerĂ­a, alfombras y paredes.
• Barra/aspire la mayor cantidad de polvo posible. Luego use un
paĂąo hĂşmedo para eliminar el resto del agente.
• Si tiene dudas sobre cómo limpiar un artefacto que haya entrado
en contacto con el agente, comunĂ­quese con el fabricante de la
unidad.
SI EL EXTINTOR REQUIERE MANTENIMIENTO
Este extintor es un dispositivo desechable NO recargable.
Por ningĂşn motivo intente dar mantenimiento o reparar el extintor.
No retire el conjunto de la boquilla o válvula. Ésta es una unidad
presurizada que puede causar graves lesiones si se manipula
indebidamente.
Si el extintor presenta problemas y la garantĂ­a aĂşn estĂĄ vigente,
consulte la secciĂłn "CĂłmo obtener servicio de garantĂ­a" en la garantĂ­a
limitada.
CÓMO DESECHAR UN EXTINTOR USADO
Descargue totalmente el extintor a la intemperie, colocĂĄndolo en
posiciĂłn invertida y pulsando el gatillo. Deseche la unidad vacĂ­a y
reemplĂĄcela por una nueva.
Nunca perfore, queme ni exponga un extintor a temperaturas
superiores a 66° C (150° F) aunque estÊ completamente descar-
gado. El contenido estĂĄ bajo presiĂłn y la unidad podrĂ­a explotar.

• No use tornillos autorroscantes ni para madera; la vibración
del vehĂ­culo podrĂ­a aflojarlos.
• No haga orificios en la estructura del vehículo si no sabe con
certeza quĂŠ hay del otro lado. PodrĂ­a causar graves daĂąos a
las lĂ­neas elĂŠctricas, los tanques y conductos de gasolina, o
demĂĄs sistemas del vehĂ­culo.
• ¡No rompa el bucle plástico que sostiene el pasador de
seguridad en su lugar! El bucle impide que el extintor se
descargue accidentalmente. Rompa el bucle sĂłlo en una
emergencia antes de usar el extintor.

CÓMO REVISAR E INSPECCIONAR EL EXTINTOR
1. Revise y pruebe el extintor una vez por
semana. Primero desenganche el extintor
del soporte de montaje/tapa. Revise la
presiĂłn del extintor pulsando el botĂłn
verde en la parte superior de la tapa tal
como se indica en la secciĂłn "CĂłmo
revisar la presiĂłn". Si el botĂłn vuelve a
subir, el extintor estĂĄ correctamente
presurizado y listo para usarse. Si el
botĂłn permanece hundido, el extintor ha
perdido presiĂłn y debe reemplazarse.
2. Revise si hay seĂąales de daĂąos o uso
indebido. CerciĂłrese de que todavĂ­a se
pueda leer el texto de la etiqueta. Revise
cuidadosamente la superficie del extintor por si presenta Ăłxido. La
formaciĂłn de Ăłxido se puede evitar limpiando el extintor cada vez
que se moje o ensucie. Si detecta Ăłxido durante la vigencia de la
garantĂ­a, devuelva la unidad a First Alert
ÂŽ(consulte la informaciĂłn
sobre la garantĂ­a limitada al final de este manual).
CĂłmo revisar

NO REVISE LA PRESIÓN NI PRUEBE EL EXTINTOR APRETANDO
EL GATILLO AUNQUE SEA MÍNIMAMENTE. UNA VEZ USADO, EL
EXTINTOR PERDERÁ PRESIÓN GRADUALMENTE Y NO ESTARÁ
LO SUFICIENTEMENTE CARGADO PARA USARLO DURANTE
UNA EMERGENCIA.
3. CerciĂłrese de que el indicador de manip-
ulaciĂłn indebida ("sello de seguridad")
aĂşn estĂŠ intacto y cerciĂłrese de que la
boquilla estĂŠ limpia y sin obstruir.
4. Vuelva a colocar el extintor en el
soporte de montaje una vez que haya
terminado de revisarlo. CerciĂłrese de
que la manija estĂŠ asegurada y de que
el sello de seguridad estĂŠ intacto.

CÓMO USAR EL EXTINTOR EN UNA
EMERGENCIA DE INCENDIO
PARA COMBATIR EL INCENDIO
Si cree que se p2-ha iniciado un incendio en el vehĂ­culo:
1. Estacione el vehĂ­culo lejos de todo trĂĄnsito.
2. Apague el motor.
3. Evacue a todas las personas y alĂŠjelas del vehĂ­culo a una
distancia segura. No enchufe un telĂŠfono celular en el vehĂ­culo
para llamar a los bomberos.
4. Retire el extintor del soporte de montaje.
5.
Sostenga firmemente el extintor con la
boquilla apuntando en direcciĂłn contraria a
usted. Tire del pasador para romper el Sello
de Seguridad. No se podrĂĄ apretar el gatillo
sino hasta que se haya retirado el sello.
6. Permanezca a 2 metros (6 pies) del fuego
y cerciĂłrese de que nada se interponga
entre usted y la ruta de salida.
7. Sostenga verticalmente el extintor y dirija
la boquilla hacia la base del fuego.
8. Mantenga pulsado el gatillo para descargar
el polvo.
9. RocĂ­e el contenido sobre la base del
material en combustiĂłn con movimientos
rĂĄpidos de lado a lado. (Retroceda si el
rocĂ­o dispersa el fuego.)
10. Avance lentamente hacia el fuego a medida
que el rocĂ­o empuja el fuego hacia atrĂĄs.
Mantenga en todo momento una distancia
de 2 metros (6 pies) entre usted y las llamas
mĂĄs cercanas.
11. Descargue completamente el contenido del extintor y cerciĂłrese
de que el fuego estĂŠ completamente apagado. Los rebrotes son
comunes en los incendios.

No ponga en marcha el vehĂ­culo ni enchufe ningĂşn accesorio
elĂŠctrico (telĂŠfonos celulares, reproductores de discos com-
pactos, televisores o grabadoras de vĂ­deo) sino hasta haber
limpiado completamente el vehĂ­culo. Es muy importante retirar el
polvo de los equipos elĂŠctricos despuĂŠs de un incendio. Si el
polvo se moja, puede conducir electricidad (es por esta razĂłn
que puede ser peligroso usar un extintor de agentes quĂ­micos
secos en equipos elĂŠctricos mojados). Esto puede empeorar un
problema de fuga elĂŠctrica, daĂąar el aislamiento del equipo o
crear un peligro de descarga elĂŠctrica.
Si cree que el incendio se originĂł por un desperfecto elĂŠctrico:
• Apague el motor y no toque ningún cable, fusible ni accesorio
elĂŠctrico.
• Salga del vehículo y manténgase alejado hasta que lleguen los
bomberos.
• No ponga el vehículo en marcha ni enchufe ningún artefacto ni
accesorio elĂŠctrico hasta que un mecĂĄnico autorizado haya
revisado el sistema elĂŠctrico del vehĂ­culo.

• Si cree que se p2-ha iniciado un incendio en el vehículo, apague
inmediatamente el motor. Evacue a todas las personas y
alĂŠjelas del vehĂ­culo. Si ve llamas saliendo debajo del capĂł,
el incendio es demasiado grande para combatirlo. NO trate
de abrir el capĂł ni combatir el incendio; alĂŠjese a una
distancia segura y pida ayuda de inmediato. El intentar
combatir un incendio de esta envergadura puede causar
lesiones graves o la muerte.
• Si no se ven llamas y desea intentar combatir el incendio
pequeĂąo, abra el capĂł con sumo cuidado. Al abrir el capĂł,
es posible que aparezcan llamas que podrĂ­an causar
lesiones graves o la muerte.
• La unidad no funcionará si no se retira del soporte de
montaje. Si no se retira del soporte, el extintor no descargarĂĄ
su contenido para combatir el incendio.
Los extintores se clasifican segĂşn el tipo de incendio. El
sistema de clasificaciĂłn A, B y C define los tipos de materiales
combustibles que cada extintor es capaz de combatir. Los
nĂşmer os delante de las letras A, B, o C indican la clasificaciĂłn
segĂşn la magnitud del incendio que puede apagar el extintor.
Usar un extintor incorrecto puede causar incluso mĂĄs daĂąo.
ÂĄCerciĂłrese de conocer cabalmente el tipo de extintor que debe
usar segĂşn el tipo de incendio!
Clase A: El agente/polvo quĂ­mico estĂĄ clasificado
para combatir incendios pequeĂąos de madera, papel,
gĂŠnero, goma y algunos plĂĄsticos.
Clase B: El agente/polvo quĂ­mico estĂĄ clasificado
para combatir incendios pequeĂąos de grasa, aceite,
gasolina, kerosene y otros lĂ­quidos inflamables.
Clase C: El agente/polvo quĂ­mico estĂĄ clasificado
para combatir incendios pequeĂąos de equipos
elĂŠctricos bajo tensiĂłn.
ÂĄIMPORTANTE!
Lea cuidadosamente y conserve estas instrucciones.
El manual del usuario contiene informaciĂłn importante sobre el
funcionamiento del extintor de incendios. Si se va a instalar esta
unidad para que la usen otras personas, deje el manual o una copia

Este extintor estĂĄ diseĂąado para combatir incendios r eciĂŠn
iniciados y que sean lo suficientemente pequeĂąos para
apagarlos en forma segura. No sirve para combatir incendios
grandes que arden fuera de control. Si el incendio produce
demasiado calor o humo para combatirlo a 2 metros (6 pies)
de distancia, no intente apagarlo por sĂ­ mismo. Avise a los
demĂĄs, abandone el inmueble y llame a los bomber os desde
fuera del edificio. El intentar combatir un incendio grande por
sĂ­ mismo puede causar lesiones graves o la muerte.
• Nunca perfore ni queme un extintor de incendios. El contenido
estĂĄ bajo presiĂłn y la unidad podrĂ­a explotar.
• Nunca instale este extintor cerca de un motor, cocina, estufa
u otra fuente de calor. El extintor estĂĄ presurizado y podrĂ­a
reventar o explotar si se expone a temperaturas superiores a
66° C (150° F).
•
Este extintor contiene polvo quĂ­mico seco. El agente/polvo
quĂ­mico no es tĂłxico, pero puede irritar la piel. Evite respirar
el polvo al usar la unidad. Siempre ventile el ĂĄrea despuĂŠs de
usarla.
• Cerciórese de que el extintor se pueda usar en forma segura
y eficaz para combatir el incendio pequeĂąo en cuestiĂłn.
Siempre tenga el mĂĄximo de precauciĂłn al combatir un
i ncendio. Combata el fuego sĂłlo donde haya una ruta de
salida despejada a fin de escapar rĂĄpidamente si el fuego
aumenta.
• Evite respirar el humo y las emanaciones calientes;
permanezca cerca del suelo si es necesario. Los materiales
en combustiĂłn liberan emanaciones tĂłxicas, las cuales
pueden causar lesiones graves o la muerte.

Permanezca siempre bien alejado del fuego, cerca de la
salida, y cerciĂłrese de que nada se interponga entre usted y

de quemarse o ser alcanzado por materiales que salpican
como la grasa. Si el incendio produce demasiado calor o

los bomberos inmediatamente.
• En caso de incendios en la cocina, intente apagar
inmediatamente los quemadores. Si no puede acercarse a
los controles del horno o de las hornillas o quemadores en
forma segura, apĂĄguelos despuĂŠs de extinguir el fuego.
• Combata el fuego en una posición contra el viento con la
espalda hacia cualquier corriente fuerte de aire. Combatir el
fuego cuando el viento sopla hacia su cuerpo puede causar
quemaduras o lesiones graves.
