This product is an SSD (Solid State Drive) that reads and writes data when connected to the USB port of a PC.
This manual explains how to set up the product. Please thoroughly read this manual before use to ensure proper setup of the product.
This product was not intended to be incorporated in or to control any facilities or equipment that could involve human lives or that require
a high level of reliability or safety (medical related equipment, aerospace related equipment, transportation related equipment, nuclear
power related equipment). ELECOM shall bear no responsibility for any fatal accidents or damage to property that occur as a result of
using this product in any such facilities or equipment.
Every effort has been made to ensure proper packaging, however in the
event any shortage or damage is discovered, contact the retailer from
whom you purchased the product or the support dial of ELECOM.
When this product is connected to the USB port of the
PC, the “Security SSD” icon will be displayed under
"Devices and Drives" on "This PC" in "File Explorer".
Double-click on the Security Portable SSD icon, or
right-click on the "Security Portable SSD " icon and click
[Open]. In the folder that opens, double-click on the
"startup.exe" file. On the first start-up, the license
agreement will be displayed. Read it carefully and if there
are no issues, select [···I agree], and click the [OK] button.
Enter the password.
The password can contain up to 8 to 16 single-byte alphanumeric
characters and the following single-byte symbols.
# $%&'()=- + ”>?_¥@[;:]../
After typing in the password hint, click "register".
* You can set the password without setting a password hint.
Click the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon in the task tray.
A message to remove "ESD-PL" will appear. Click on that message box.
If a message “It can be safely removed” appears, remove it.

The message "Your password has been registered.” will appear, and click [OK].
If the password is lost or entered incorrectly 5 times or more without being able to disable
the security, you will not be able to unlock your password and not be able to access the
SSD of this product. In order to access it again, you need to perform “Initialization of this
product (Initialization of password)”. If you perform "Initialization of this product (Initialization
of password)", all files stores in the SSD area, registered passwords, password hints, etc.
will be deleted, so please exercise extreme caution.
ELECOM shall have no responsibility for any troubles arising out of your inability to
access the SSD due to an incorrect password entered by you 5 times or more. Also,
please note that ELECOM will not accept any request to recover files from the SSD of
this product.
• When it is in a locked state, the security functions will be enabled, so you will not be able to
access the SSD area.
You can access it again by unlocking it.
• If you restart your PC or remove this product from the PC, it will be locked automatically.
• Remove this product when your PC is shut down.
For more details on how to use security on SSDs, refer to "Security SSD" in the
software manual.
• Do not connect it to a USB hub or a USB port of a keyboard.
Doing so may cause it to stop working properly.
• Once you “unlock the password” successfully, the SSD drive icon will be
displayed under "Devices and Drives" on "This PC" in "File Explorer".
A message may appear asking you to restart the PC, but you do not need to
restart your PC. If that message appears, click “No” regarding restarting your PC.
• If you remove this product from the PC, it will be locked automatically.
Therefore, password-lock is not required when removing this product from the PC.
• If the password is not set, the SSD area of this product cannot be used.
• Be careful not to set simple passwords as there is a risk of it being
unlocked easily.
The password input screen will be displayed after completing
the initial setup of the password. Enter the registered password
and click [Unlock]. If the authentication of the password is
successful, the password will be unlocked, and you can access
the SSD of this product.
* If you check the checkbox [Show Password***], you can view the password entered.
