Intended use
Your Black & Decker scale has been designed for weighing the
human body. This product is intended for household use only.
Safety instructions
Warning! When using battery-powered appliances,

Using the appliance
◆Do not use the appliance outdoors.
◆Always protect the appliance from water or excessive
humidity.
◆Do not use the appliance at ambient temperatures below
10 °C or above 30 °C.
◆Do not use the appliance on an uneven surface.
◆Do not use the appliance if your feet are wet.
◆Do not step on the edge of the appliance.
◆Do not overload the appliance.
Safety of others
◆Do not allow children or any person unfamiliar with these
instructions use the appliance.
After use
◆Remove the batteries when the appliance is not going to
be used for a longer period of time.
◆When not in use, the appliance should be stored in a dry
place. Children should not have access to stored appliances.
Inspection and repairs
◆Before use, check the appliance for damaged or defective
parts. Check for breakage of parts and any other
conditions that may affect its operation.
◆Do not use the appliance if any part is damaged or defective.
◆Have any damaged or defective parts repaired or replaced
by an authorised repair agent.
◆Never attempt to remove or replace any parts other than
those specified in this manual.
Electrical safety
Warning! To avoid the risk of short circuiting, do not immerse
the appliance or the batteries in water or other liquid.
◆Use only the correct type of battery for the appliance
(see technical data).
Additional safety instructions for non-rechargeable
batteries
◆Never attempt to open for any reason.
◆Do not store in locations where the temperature may
exceed 40 °C.
◆When disposing of batteries, follow the instructions given
in the section “Protecting the environment”.
Do not incinerate the batteries.
◆Under extreme conditions, battery leakage may occur.
When you notice liquid on the batteries, proceed as follows:
- Carefully wipe the liquid off using a cloth.
Avoid skin contact.

Assembly
Fitting the batteries (fig. A)
◆Remove the battery cover (3) from the appliance.
◆Place the battery cells.
◆If present, remove the insulator strip from between the
battery cells.
◆Refit the cover.
Use
◆Place the appliance on a flat surface.
◆Ensure the appliance is dry before stepping onto it.
Selecting the measurement system (fig. A & B)
The appliance can show the results in kilograms (4), stones (5)
or pounds (6).
◆To switch from one measurement system to the other,
set the switch (2) into the required position.
Weighing (fig. C)
◆Tap the centre of the scale with one foot to activate the
appliance. The message (7) appears on the screen (1).
◆Wait for the message (8) to appear on the screen (1).
◆Step on the appliance. The digits on the screen start blinking.
◆The result appears on the screen.
Auto switch-off
◆After approximately 30 seconds of inactivity, the screen
will go blank.
