Comment y parvenir ?

1. Observez son sommeil

Si sa tête est alternativement tournée d’un

côté ou de l’autre, il n’y a pas de problème.

Si sa tête est toujours tournée du même

côté, aidez-le à la

maintenir de l’autre

sans pour autant

l’installer sur le coté.

Si vous n’y arrivez

pas, parlez-en

précocement à

votre pédiatre. En

effet, la difficulté de tourner la tête des 2

côtés peut traduire l’existence d’un torticoli

qui en l’absence de traitement augmente les

risques de plagiocéphalie posturale.

2. Changez de

position au réveil

Lorsque bébé est

réveillé, privilégiez la

position sur le

ventre qui supprime

tout appui sur

l’arrière du crâne et

lui permet en outre

d’acquérir plus vite un bon tonus.

Au besoin, dans les premiers jours aidez-le

à se soutenir en passant une main sous

son thorax pour qu’il apprenne à pousser

sur les bras.

Portez le souvent dans cette même position

qui est par ailleurs très confortable pour lui.

Pour l’aider,

susciter son intérêt

Dans tous les cas qu’il s’agisse d’aider bébé

à maintenir la position sur le ventre ou la tête

d’un coté, on peut s’aider de son intérêt et de

son plaisir à regarder. Bébé fixe du regard

dès la naissance et tourne la tête pour suivre

une cible contrastée. Présentez lui des objets

accrochés aux barreaux du lit (et non dans le

lit) et disposez le lit de

telle manière à ce que

la lumière arrive du

côté souhaité.

N’oubliez pas que

votre regard est le

plus jubilatoire et le

plus stimulant des

objets à voir.

Pour son confort et son bien-être

- Evitez les positions demi assises

prolongées en coques rigides.

- La température de la chambre doit être de

19 °C sans tabac.

- Le bébé doit dormir sans couverture ni

couette.

La plagiocéphalie positionnelle ou "tête plate" est fréquente depuis que

bébé dort sur le dos. Le crâne très malléable de bébé peut se déformer

sous l’influence de son propre poids. Il faut s’efforcer dès la naissance de

faire varier les points d’appui de la tête.

How to achieve this?

1.Watch the way he sleeps

If he turns his head alternatively one way and

then the other there is no risk of any problem.

If his head should be turned always towards

the same side, help

baby to maintain his

head towards the

other side, without

however turning the

baby on that side. If

you do not manage

to obtain this, talk about it as early as possible

to your paediatrician. In fact, a difficulty in

turning his head both ways may be an

indication of a stiff neck, which, in the absence

of treatment increases the risks of postural

plagiocephalia.

2.Change his

position when

awake

When baby is awake,

favour positioning him

on his belly, which

eliminates all support

for the head, which in

addition will allow him

to acquire a good muscular tone. Since the

very first days, help him to hold itself by

slipping a hand under his thorax, so that he

learns to push with his arms. Carry him often

in this same position, which is furthermore

most comfortable for baby.

To help baby, wake his interest

In all cases where it should be required to

help baby maintain his position on his belly,

or head on one side, one can take

advantage of his interest and pleasure in

watching. Baby stares ever since birth and

turns his head to follow a vivid target. Show

him attractive objects hanging from the

paling of the cradle

(not inside the cradle)

and position the

cradle so that light

arrives from the

desired side. Do not

forget that the view of

yourself is the most

stimulating and joyful

sight for baby.

For his comfort and well being

- Avoid half-seated position in rigid shells.

- Room temperature must be of 19°C without

tobacco smell.

- Baby must sleep without either blanket or

bedcover.

Positional plagyocephalia or “flat head” is frequent when the baby sleeps on

his back. The malleable cranium of the baby may get misshaped under the

influence of its own weight. One must try, ever since birth, to ensure the

points of support of the head change frequently.
