3. Downloading the Homey App
Visit https://setup.homey.app to download and install the
Homey app. Follow the on-screen instructions to create an
account and complete the setup process.
1. Insert the Homey Energy Dongle into the P1-port of
your smart meter.
The P1 port’s location varies and may be hidden behind a
lid. Check your smart meter’s manual if needed.
2. A blue LED indicates the Homey Energy Dongle is
ready for setup.
If the LED is off or solid red, the dongle needs extra power.
Connect the included USB cable to the dongle and a USB-A
adapter, then plug the adapter into a working socket.
Important Safety Information
Handle Homey Energy Dongle with care. It contains
sensitive electronic components, and can be damaged,
impair functionality, or cause injury if dropped, burned,
punctured, crushed, disassembled, or if exposed to
excessive heat or liquid or to environments having high
concentrations of industrial chemicals, including near
evaporating liquied gasses. Don’t use a damaged Homey
Energy Dongle.
Power Supply
Only use Homey Energy Dongle with an adapter that is
compliant with applicable country regulations and safety
standards, including the International Standard for Safety
of Information Technology Equipment (IEC 62368-1), with
a minimal output rating of 5V/0.5A
Some smart meters don’t supply power, or don’t supply
enough power on their P1 port. If the LED on Homey
Energy Dongle doesn’t turn on, or turns red after
connecting it to the P1 port, you’ll need to provide power
to Homey Energy Dongle through the USB-C port.
Power passthrough to the P1 port only works when the
Homey Energy Dongle is powered over the USB-C port.
Data passthrough works even if the Homey Energy Dongle
is powered by the P1 port.
Medical device interference
Homey Energy Dongle contains components and radios
that emit electromagnetic elds. These electromagnetic
elds should not, but may possibly interfere with
pacemakers, debrillators, or other medical devices.
Maintain a safe distance of separation between your
medical device and Homey Energy Dongle. Consult
your physician and medical device manufacturer for
information specic to your medical device, including
radio immunity. Stop using Homey Energy Dongle if you
suspect it might be interfering with your medical device.
